Jillian smiled and nodded. “Please go and help Tilly. She needs you. Dino is here with me, so no worries.”
Matthew looked over at Dino.
“It's okay,” Dino said. “I would say be careful but no one can hurt you now.”
Matthew smiled at him. “At least you know how much I loved you, boy. The last couple of years weren’t as bad as... You did wonders for me. Now you have more family. Please let them in.” He then turned and left the kitchen too.
When they were gone, Jillian turned her attention to Dino. “Did you find something?”
“Yes, I did.” Dino moved his laptop screen a bit so she could see it.
There on the screen was a black and white picture of the man they knew as George Walker. The article under the photo stated that Beau Lamprey was wanted in New Orleans for the murder of his mother Sharon Lamprey and his father. When he fled New Orleans he went to Natchez, got into a street brawl and stabbed another man to death.
Dino spoke up now, “I found the article when I searched for Beau Lamprey. I also found his grandmother Chanti. She was some kind of voodoo priestess. I cannot find where she died though. The article I found about her said she was into dark magic.”
“She must have been the one to teach George the black magic he used to curse this place,” Jillian concluded. She looked at the screen again to see this article and read aloud, “A voodoo priestess named Chanti La Rue. Chanti was reported to be a black arts priestess. Some say she made a deal with the devil to live forever.” Jillian looked at Dino and added, “So, maybe that is why you cannot find her obituary.”
Dino shook his head. “This all just gets wilder and wilder. First, it’s a cursed hotel, then ghost sisters. Then a ghost murderer from down south and he made a voodoo curse that has now trapped us into a burning hell.”
Jillian blinked at him. “Wow, it sounds like a great thriller novel in the making.”
He rolled his eyes. “Not even a reader would believe all of this shit.”
Suddenly, everything in the room started to bounce around. The dishes rattled in the cabinets. The silverware clinked in the drawers. The empty kitchen chairs even skittered across the floor.
Dino stood and grabbed Jillian and they got under the table.
A sudden burst of light lit up the room. It was almost blinding.
“Holy shit!” Dino swore.
Jillian held onto him as she stammered in fear, “I-is this the end?”
Then the room seemed to quiet down as the movement stopped and the lights flickered.
“If it is,” Dino told her. “I want to do this before we go.” He tugged her close and kissed her hard.
Jillian was still in shock then her body relaxed as she kissed him back. It was heavenly.
“Um,” a deep male voice said. “I hate to interrupt a kiss of all things but we can’t come back later.”
The kissing couple broke apart and they both gasped.
“It’s okay. Please come out,” a female voice spoke now.
After a minute of hesitation, Dino grabbed Jillian’s hand and they scooted out from beneath the table.
When they stood they blinked their eyes at what theory saw.
Standing there was a very good looking couple.
The woman clasped her hands together and said, “This is gonna sound nuts, but...You have to come with us.”
“What?” Dino asked.
“You haven’t seen her yet but she will be here,” the woman said.
“Who?” Jillian asked.
“Chanti,” the man replied.
Jillian and Dino were so confused.
“Who are you two?” Dino demanded.
The woman smiled. “I’m Destiny and this is Fate.” She motioned to the man. “You need to come with us.”
