“I never thought, I didn’t think…” She cupped his face, pulling him down for a kiss. “We’ve waited so long,” she said against his lips.
Rocco moved away, leaving them to their moment, and went to his own mate, who was holding Eve’s hand while she blinked and Laz held fingers in front of her face.
“It’s blurry, but yeah, I can see them,” Eve said.
Lazarus pressed his forehead to hers, and Kyler spun to Rocco, letting him pull her into his arms.
The elevator dinged, and the doors slid open. Marcus exploded out, Brent, Silas, Ronan, and Willow right behind him, all bloody and battle weary but okay. Then Marcus’s gaze hit his daughter. Seeing she was okay, he grabbed for the wall to steady himself before making his way over to her and Zenon.
Rocco looked around the room at his brothers, their mates, then pressed his lips to the top of Kyler’s head, holding her tighter.
They were okay.
Everyone was going to be okay.
Chapter 33
Chaos looked at Zen. “You heard from Lucifer?”
Zenon muttered a curse. “Yeah. He said everything worked out like it was supposed to, and that he’ll see me soon.”
“I guess now that he’s back and has all his handmaids with him, he’ll be able to move freely between Hell and Roxburgh,” Laz said.
“I’m kinda glad about that,” Roc said. “I know Ky really likes Roxy.”
“Eve as well,” Laz said.
Several days had passed since they’d defeated Diemos, and they’d spent nearly all that time with their females. Thank fuck they were all okay and there were no lasting injuries from the fight. To say they were proud was an understatement, but leaving their mates, even to go out on patrol, after seeing them in danger, seeing them hurt like that, wasn’t easy.
“Did he say anything about Diemos?” Silas asked.
Zen shook his head. “I asked, and he ignored me, so not sure we’re going to get anything out of him about that fucker.”
Chaos growled.
“So how’s Scar settling in?” Roc asked Tobias.
He nodded. “Yeah, good, actually. Your females have a lot to do with that. They made this a homecoming for her. She’s…fuck, yeah, she’s happy. Really happy.”
Lazarus smiled, eyes glittering. “I still can’t believe she’s back, both of you,” he said roughly.
“Lucifer may be a fucking pain in the ass, but after what he did for me, for us, I’ll forever be in his debt,” T said.
“And he’ll make sure he doesn’t let you forget,” Zen bit out.
Kryos crossed his arms. “If Lucifer had grown some fucking balls and helped us, our females wouldn’t have had to fight, they wouldn’t have been hurt.”
Everyone nodded, and there were more growls around the room. “How’s Meredith doing, brother?” Roc asked Kryos.
The male’s eyes softened instantly. “She’s good, tired, ’cause she’s still building up her power stores, and the morning sickness has kicked in, but yeah, fuck, she’s perfect.”
“So why do you think it happened now? You and Merri have been together for close to eighty years and now suddenly she gets pregnant?” Chaos asked, and there was no missing the odd note to his voice.
Kryos chuckled at the trepidation in his brother’s eyes. “I think fate had something to do with it. If we already had children, our females might not have fought, they would have wanted to stay here and protect them, and we would have lost to Diemos. We were meant to win, so they stopped us from conceiving.” He shrugged. “That’s my theory, anyway.” Then he grinned. “If I’m right, I won’t be the only one with a pregnant mate for much longer.”
Every male, except for Silas, froze.
The room stayed silent while they all pondered that one for a moment, while Kryos and Silas grinned like assholes.
