“Yeah, you will be if you don’t sit your ass down and let me redress your arm before you train.”
No, Gunner’s female wasn’t weak, not anymore—physically or otherwise. “I’m fine…”
“Seriously, Rocco, if you don’t sit down, I’ll be forced to use my power on you and knock you on your ass.” She grumbled under her breath.
Gunner chuckled, the scar through his upper lip making his mouth turn down on one side. “I think you should probably do what she says.”
Luna kicked out a chair from under their small table, and Roc sat, because the petite female was not going to take no for an answer, and if this helped her, made her feel better in some way, he’d be a dick not to let her do it.
She moved in and dropped a first-aid kit on the table beside him. “Let me see what you’ve done to yourself.”
He pulled up his sleeve and rested his arm on the table. She made a pained sound when she peeled back his old dressing, then scowled at him. “What a fucking mess.” She glanced at her mate. “Will this heal when he’s eating properly?”
“Should do.”
She looked back up at Rocco. “Start eating. You’ll be no good to Kyler if you don’t, and leaving a trail of blood everywhere you go while you’re prancing around Hell isn’t in your best interests either.”
“I doubt he’ll be prancing, love,” Gunner said, fighting a grin.
She muttered several more curses as she cleaned Roc up. “So what’s your plan?”
“Charge the portal when it opens…”
“That won’t work. Your brothers will stop you.” She looked up from what she was doing. “I heard you and Gunner talking. Chaos will be on you as soon as you make your move, and then Zenon will sit on you, and it’ll all be over.”
Gunner chuckled again, and Rocco stared at the little goth female in front of him in shock. “You think they can stop me?”
“I know they can.” She huffed out a breath. “Look, don’t get me wrong, you’re strong, Rocco, but there’s no way you’ll be back to full strength by then. Rage and determination will only get you so far,” she said as she grabbed a fresh bandage.
Rocco hated to admit it, but Luna was probably right. “What do you suggest?”
Placing a clean dressing over the large wound, she began wrapping the bandage around it. “I’ll help you.”
“Like hell,” Gunner growled.
She glanced up at her mate. “I can block Rocco, no one will even know he’s there until it’s too late. My power can’t go with him, unfortunately. I wish it could. But this will give Roc the best chance of getting in without drawing attention from your brothers or the demons coming through. He’ll be able to blend in.” She looked at Roc. “You’ll have to dress the part, I guess. What do demon’s wear?”
“It’s not safe, love,” Gunner said more gently.
Roc shook his head. “Not involving you in this, Luna.”
Luna secured the bandage. “Kyler’s one of my sisters, Rocco. It doesn’t matter that I’ve never met her, I already love her, just like I love Eve and Mia, Grace and Meredith. I want to do my part to help you bring her home to us.”
Fuck.
She turned to her mate. “I know you’re worried, but you know what I can do, Gunner. I hid from you for a year. You don’t think I can stay hidden from a few demons? They won’t even know I’m there, no one will.”
Gunner planted his hands on his hips, jaw tight. “I can’t stop you, can I?”
She stood, walked up to him, wrapped her arms around his waist, and tilted her head back. “No.”
He cupped her face, leaned in, and kissed her. “Okay, then.”
Rocco dragged in a rough breath, and his demon writhed impatiently.
Hang on, baby. I’m coming for you.
