“And if we want to stay that way, don’t draw attention to us by being a dumb fuck.”

“She’s right there,” Rocco growled. “I’m not leaving her.”

“The only thing that will happen if you rush over there now is you will be captured and used as another way to torture her. Think smart.”

Rocco was having trouble thinking at all.

His brother gave him a hard look and stood, and Rocco took his outstretched hand, letting him help him to his feet.

“Move.” T grabbed his arm and shoved him in the opposite direction.

Roc yanked free and turned back. Diemos was moving quickly to the door they’d come through, while Kyler searched the room wildly—

Her gaze found him.

Fuck. His heart smashed violently against the back of his ribs. She was alive. He’d felt it, but fuck, now he’d seen her with his own eyes. She was looking right at him.

I’m here, baby. I’m coming to get you.

But she didn’t acknowledge him. There was no smile, no look of hope, no, her eyes were flat, empty. They slid closed, and her shoulders dropped, her entire body seeming to deflate, and she followed Diemos obediently back to the room. They both vanished inside.

“Roc, move,” Tobias bit out.

Everything inside him wanted to rush that door and kick it down, Christ, with a desperation that made it impossible to fucking breathe. Every part of him was electric, pulsing with the need to go to her, but fuck, Tobias was right. Rocco wasn’t powerful enough to fight Diemos, and he was outnumbered, surrounded by demons.

Roc looked at his bother again. His eyes weren’t the black of his demon, they were bright blue, but he had no way of knowing for sure who he was really dealing with.

Tobias was wearing the armor of Diemos’s army, and it wasn’t that long ago their brother, lost in grief, gave himself over to his inner demon, embracing the darkness—embracing Diemos.

“Where are you taking me?” Rocco asked as they headed down one of the tunnels.

“Don’t speak,” Tobias said.

“You won’t stop me,” Rocco bit out. “Nothing will stop me.”

Tobias turned a corner, shoved Rocco deep into an alcove, and advanced on him. Roc reached for his sword—

Tobias yanked off his helmet, the steel clattering on the ground. His long blond hair fell around his angled face, then his brother smiled, not twisted and filled with hate but wide and filled with joy.

“You’re a fucking sight for sore eyes,” Tobias choked out.

Relief hammered Roc as T moved in and caught him up in a bone-crushing hug. Rocco didn’t fight him, because this wasn’t the monster T had allowed himself to become after Scarlet was killed. This was his brother.

Tobias’s inner demon was not in the driver’s seat, not anymore. No, this was not the male who had given himself over to his inner demon and done all kinds of twisted, evil shit, nearly dragging his brothers into darkness with him.

This was T, the male he’d been before Scarlet was taken from him. Rocco could feel it, the male’s pure heart had been restored, full, untainted.

“You’re back,” Rocco said when they separated. “Fuck, brother, it’s you.”

“Yeah, I’m fucking back,” Tobias said, grinning.

Then it happened. The link that had been lost, broken when T went dark, connecting them all to their brother, snapped back into existence.

Christ, the rush, the pure strength of joy that came from all of their brothers, firing back through that connection, when they felt T as well, felt him as he once was—when they realized he and Tobias had to be together—had them both dropping to their knees.

Tobias bowed his head, gasping for breath, shaking so hard his teeth chattered. Rocco grabbed T’s shoulder, offering him support, and yeah, to hold himself the fuck up.

The seven of them were connected once more.
