Kryos chuckled at the trepidation in his brother’s eyes. “I think fate had something to do with it. If we already had children, our females might not have fought, they would have wanted to stay here and protect them, and we would have lost to Diemos. We were meant to win, so they stopped us from conceiving.” He shrugged. “That’s my theory, anyway.” Then he grinned. “If I’m right, I won’t be the only one with a pregnant mate for much longer.”

Every male, except for Silas, froze.

The room stayed silent while they all pondered that one for a moment, while Kryos and Silas grinned like assholes.

“What happens now?” Gunner finally asked.

Chaos crossed his arms, his gaze hitting each of them. “We fight. We protect. We carry on. It’s business as usual, my brothers. There always have been and always will be demons in this city.”

Later, Rocco walked into their apartment and Ky was sitting on the couch.

“Hey,” she said, smiling up at him.

“Hey, pumpkin.” He moved around the couch and sat, and she immediately climbed into his lap. He wrapped his arms around her and buried his face in the crook of her neck, breathing her in, and like always, when his female was in his arms, his soul quieted and contentment washed over him, filled him.

“Are you hunting tonight?” she asked, her head on his shoulder.

“Not tonight. Still not ready to leave my mate,” he said, voice gritty. “I’d miss you too much.”

She lifted her head. “Well, if you took me with you next time you went out, you wouldn’t have to miss me.”

His gut gripped tight, he’d known this was coming. But Kyler was more than capable, she’d proven herself several times over. “You want that?”

“I think so. I want to help. I need a purpose,” she said and ran her thumb over his lower lip.

“Okay.” He cupped her face and kissed her. “We’ll fight together.”

She smiled. “Then we’ll come home and we’ll shower together.”

He chuckled, and it sounded rough and a little dirty. “Yeah, we will.” He kissed her again. “You know what? I was actually thinking about doing that now.”

“Oh really? You need someone to scrub your back?”

Rocco growled and lifted her, chuckling when she squealed but let him carry her into the bathroom.

Epilogue

“Quick, pass the mashed potatoes,” Gunner said. “Luna’s almost finished and I’m not sharing mine.”

Luna gave him side eyes but there was laughter there. “What can I say, I can’t get enough.” She leaned back and rested her hands on her rounded belly. “The baby wants it.”

“And the baby shall have it,” Gunner said smirking.

“Mine was chili, anything hot and spicy,” Meredith said and leaned over to kiss baby Astra’s tiny waving fist. She was lying in the cradle of Kryos’s arm, while he ate with the other. Astra was only a few months old and already there were faint markings on one of her little arms.

There had never been any female knights, but going by the colorful, tattoo-like design slowly getting darker on her skin, that was about to change.

“What was yours again?” Meredith asked Eve.

“Meat,” Eve said flashing a grin. “The bloodier the better.” Eve was currently breastfeeding, so Laz was feeding his female forkfuls of her dinner. She looked down at her and Laz’s son, Lysander, and her smile widened. Ly was born just a month after Astra, and same thing, those markings were already visible on his tiny arm.

Rocco leaned back in his seat, while everyone laughed and joked and glanced down at his female who was laughing and joking right along with them, and Christ, his heart was full.

Nothing was more important than this, and they would protect it with everything they had. Thankfully, since Lucifer had taken back Hell, things had quietened down. Demons still escaped every solstice and equinox, but it wasn’t anything they couldn’t handle. They were back to business as usual.

“So who’s next?” Luna said with a grin, her gaze sliding to Kyler.
