“The way Dane looks at you,” Lila said and took my hand, “the sky rises and sets with you, Eves. I know he hurt you when he went away, but I don’t think you have anything to worry about, not anymore.”
They were right, all of them. I’d been letting my fear rule me for such a long time it was second nature. “I know,” I said and smiled at Cassy who was smiling softly at me. “It feels right being with him, and I don’t want to hold anything back from him anymore.”
Quinn winked. “Next girls’ night we’ll expect some serious details.”
We all laughed again. Cassy got more chips, and Quinn topped up our glasses.
Then we settled in and watched the rest of the movie.

I hugged Lila good night before Bull loaded her, Quinn, and Trix into his truck and headed down the driveway back to Rocktown.
I was grinning to myself, more than tipsy as I walked—okay, stumbled—to my room off the barn. And because I was more than tipsy, I didn’t notice the light on in my room until I opened the door.
I stumbled to a stop, and the sight before me instantly sent mini lightning strikes through my lower belly and stopped the breath that was on the way out.
Lying shirtless on my bed, feet bare, a pair of Levi’s molded to long legs and solid thighs, and propped up on my pillows with a book in his hand, was Dane.
He smiled, all lazy and sexy and inviting, and the breath that had stuck in my throat came out in a rush.
“You’re here,” I said, my own smile plastered on my face. I took a step closer and stumbled. “Oops.” I giggled.
Dane’s smile widened. “How many wines did you have with the girls?”
I kicked off my shoes. “A few. You never said you were coming to see me.”
His golden gaze moved over me. “Wanted to surprise you.”
I made it to the bed with only a couple more stumbles and dove on the mattress beside him. “It worked. I’m glad you came.” I dropped my head to his shoulder. “Missed you.”
He chuckled, his arm coming around me. “Missed you, too, baby.” He gave me a squeeze. “So you need to tell me about this book.”
“Hmm?” I lifted my head.
He held up the book he was reading, one from my bookshelf. A motorcycle club erotic romance. I bit my lip.
“Interesting reading.” His grin was wide and gorgeous and went right up to his eyes.
“Are you making fun of my book?”
“Nope, this shit is hot. I just got to the good bit. The hero and heroine are about to fuck.” He chuckled when I flushed. “This is why you wanted to ride on the back of my bike?”
“Maybe,” I said and shoved my face in his throat to hide that I was blushing harder.
His hand dropped to my butt. “Anything else you wanna try from this book, Eves?”
His voice made it clear he was smiling, teasing me, so it was only fair that I teased him back. I lifted my head again, licked my lips, and nodded.
Dane’s gaze dropped to my mouth and he stilled. “Yeah?”
“Yes.” I slid the book from his fingers and flipped to one of my favorite scenes. The book basically fell open on the page, I’d read it that many times. Not the one Dane was about to read, though. That was good as well, like really good. The scene I planned on giving him was one I’d read a lot.
The scene involved a BJ of epic proportions followed by rough sex against the wall of a garage. I inwardly smirked as I handed it over but made sure to keep my expression all innocence when Dane looked at me, curiosity front and center.
He took the book from me, and I watched as his eyes began scanning the words I’d read enough times that I could see it play out in my mind without even reading it. I couldn’t contain my grin as his gaze flew over the page, then the next. And I had to bite back a laugh when his eyes finally locked back on mine.
The laugh dissolved when his stare turned blazing hot, sharp and tense. “All your books have stuff like this in them?” he asked, voice tight.
