She rested her hand on his chest like she had that day in his office but this time skin on skin, and he knew she could feel the way his heart pounded. “Give in,” she whispered, mouth an inch from his.
She closed the gap and her lips were on his. He combusted. His arms came around her and he thrust his tongue between her lips. Her taste, the heat of her mouth, the smell of her skin hit him like a thousand volts. He thrust his fingers in her dark hair and deepened the kiss. Everything about it, about her, felt right, like this was where she was meant to be.
Her hands moved over his bare skin and he groaned, desperate for more contact.
Chaya broke the kiss suddenly and rested her forehead against his.
He tried to move back in to take her mouth once more.
“Stop,” she said, again in that tone that had his gut in knots. “No more kissing, not until you tell me.”
Confessing the whole twisted truth about what had happened to him, his confusion, his shame, what he was—of what he was afraid of happening in the future—wouldn’t change a thing. He’d still be him. “I can’t.”
She shook her head. “You won’t.” She pulled away and stood.
“Don’t go, Chaya. I want you, fucking need you.” It killed him to say it, to make himself vulnerable like that, but he didn’t think he could fight it anymore.
“You want to fuck me, but you won’t give me more.”
He got to his feet and closed the distance. “No, I…I can’t give you more. But I can give you what you need, Chaya. I can make that ache deep inside you go away.” He knew how to play the Dom, and he realized he’d to that for her, he’d do anything for her, fulfill her needs, if she’d let him. He could at least give her that.
She lifted her hands, telling him to stay back. “It’s not enough.” She took another step back, putting more distance between them. “I want all of you, not just the dregs you choose to give me.”
“Chaya,” he growled. Man and demon could feel her pulling away and, fuck, Brent didn’t know how to make her stay.
Chaya was strong, willful, perfect. If he took a wrong step with her, if he let his emotions take over, if he got lost in her and lost control, he could hurt her, and he would never forgive himself if that happened.
And until he made Garrett pay, he was no good, not to anyone.
Apart from sex.
“You are sex, Brent. Nothing more, nothing less.”
Garrett’s voice filled his head, and Brent hated that he was right.
That’s all he was good for, all he could give her. The rest of him was fucked up beyond repair.
Chaya blinked over at him, hurt clear in her eyes. “You don’t trust me.”
“That’s not it.”
“What else can it be?” she said as she headed for the door.
She sounded disappointed in him, and he fucking hated that. Frustration, desperation had him growling under his breath. “Don’t walk out that door. Christ. Please, Chaya.”
“You’ve offered me nothing but an orgasm, Brent. I can do that for myself.” Then she walked out, shutting the door behind her.
He stood there, body shaking, nerve endings sparking, gaze still locked on the door she’d just walked through. Emotions he didn’t know what to do with hammered him, and then there was that ever-present, all-consuming hunger turning him inside out for her. But there was nothing he could do. Nothing would appease the incubus and what it roared for, not anymore.
Because he only wanted Chaya. He didn’t want anyone else, and the idea of taking anyone else into one of the playrooms now, which was what he desperately needed to get his shit back under control, turned his stomach.
A serious problem for a sex demon.
He was well and truly fucked.
Chapter 8
Grace’s job, when she wasn’t teaching self-defense classes or chasing down demons, was at a burlesque club. And when Chaya walked in, the other female was dancing on one of the raised stages placed around the room. Tall and sleek, she was dressed in a beautiful turquoise vintage bra, corset, and panties set with garter and stockings to match.
