I looked down at Sol tucked against my side, Halo resting on my shoulder, my hand still spread over the stomach carrying my son.

This was all the proof I needed that I'd made the right decision.

My wife wasn't surviving anymore.

She was happy.

She was loved.

And most importantly, she finally knew it.

A year ago, I thought having money meant I had everything.

Now I knew better.

I had my mama. My brother. My daughter. My son on the way.

And I had her.

Sol lifted her head from my chest and caught me staring.

"What?" she asked, a smile tugging at her lips.

I shook my head and kissed her forehead.

"Nothing. Just looking at my wife."

She smiled and tucked herself against me again.

My eyes traveled to the gold letters above the building behind us.

THE SOUL HAVEN FOUNDATION.

The first time I met Sol, I didn't know what she was carrying.

I didn't know how many nights she'd cried when nobody was listening or how many times life had given her a reason to give up.

All I knew was there was something in her eyes that day.

Something hurting.

Something asking to be seen even when her mouth wouldn't say it.

Maybe that's what happens **when a soul cries.**

You don't always hear it.

Sometimes you just gotta be paying attention enough to see it.

I saw hers.

And thank God I did.

THE END. OR IS IT??
