“Roman.”
The warning in her voice made me laugh.
“I’m fucking with you. Fine.”
“I’m serious.”
“So am I.” I dropped my hand and looked directly at her. “You get to be you. That’s the woman I’m asking to marry me in the first place.”
Her expression softened.
“Anything else?” I asked.
Sol thought about it, eyes drifting toward the ceiling.
“Not right now.”
“Good.”
I reached for my phone.
Her eyes followed it immediately.
“What are you doing?”
“Making a call.”
“To who?”
I was already scrolling through my contacts.
Sol slowly lowered her coffee.
“Roman.”
I put the phone to my ear.
“Rome, what are you doing?”
“Handling business.”
She stared at me. “What business?”
I held up one finger when somebody answered.
“Yeah, I need you to find me somebody who can marry two people today.”
Sol’s mouth dropped open.
“Nigga, WHAT?”
I turned away because I was about to laugh.
“Today,” I repeated into the phone. “I don’t give a damn where. Dahlonega, somewhere close. Just figure it out.”
“ROMAN!”
I ended the call and turned around.
