Her green eyes widened at the sharpness in my voice. “Rome—”

“I’m serious.”

She tried pulling her wrist free, but months of irritation came rushing back at once. I stepped into her space, forcing her backward until the brick wall beside the shop stopped her.

My hand came around her throat, holding her there without squeezing.

The attitude disappeared from her face.

“Listen carefully,” I said, keeping my voice low. “Whatever the fuck you think is still between me and you, kill it.”

Ulani stared at me, her chest rising faster.

“I’m dealing with somebody else.”

Something shifted across her expression.

“I want her.”

Ulani blinked.

“I’m choosing her.”

“Damn, Rome—”

“So stop calling me. Stop coming to my office. Stop touching me. And stop thinking you can walk back into my life whenever you feel like it.”

I released her and stepped away.

Ulani immediately touched her neck. The shock on her face lasted only a few seconds before anger replaced it.

“All this over some bitch you probably barely know?”

I stepped forward again.

Her back pressed against the wall.

“Watch your fucking mouth.”

Her lips parted, but nothing came out.

“You don’t know Sol,” I warned. “Don’t speak on her.”

Her eyebrows lifted.

“Sol?”

The second she repeated the name, I realized I’d given her one.

Fuck it.

“Yeah. Sol.”

I grabbed the flowers from where I’d rested them against the hood.

“And if you ever see me with her, keep walking.”

Ulani stared at me like she couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
