Zari had changed since the last time I’d seen her, dressed more casually now, but it didn’t matter. I would’ve recognized that face anywhere. Especially with the way her eyebrows slowly pulled together as she looked me up and down like I had personally offended her by existing inside this house.

“The fuck are you doing here?” she asked.

I jerked backward and slapped a hand against my chest. “Me?”

“Yes, you.”

“What the fuck are *you* doing here?”

Zari planted one hand on her hip. “Why are you yelling?”

“Because apparently I’m the only motherfucker who didn’t get the memo!”

Behind me, Rome released the deepest sigh I had ever heard.

“Jesus Christ.”

Zari’s gaze moved around me toward Rome.

The second she saw the baby in his arms, her expression softened.

“There she go.”

My head snapped around so quickly I almost pulled something in my neck.

“SEE!”

Rome frowned at me. “See what?”

“I told you!”

Zari looked between us, confusion spreading across her face. “Told him what?”

“That I know that baby.”

Her face went blank.

She blinked at me.

“Why are you screaming about knowing somebody’s baby?”

“Because that’s the baby from your car!”

“No shit, Sherlock.”

The corner of Rome’s mouth twitched.

I pointed at him. “Don’t you fucking laugh.”

“I didn’t.”

“You wanted to.”

“I definitely wanted to.”

Before I could answer him, movement behind Zari caught my attention.

Another woman stepped into the doorway.
