“Are you worried about us getting caught together?”

He sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose. “We’ve been over this before. But I’ll entertain you. No, I’m not worried. Truth or kiss?”

“Truth.”

“Are you really a virgin?”

My jaw drops, and I avert my gaze. He doesn’t know that I was awake when he and Asher were in my bedroom last night. He must believe that I don’t remember anything, and that’s for the best. “Why do you want to know so badly?”

Elijah wags a finger at me with a tsk. “It’s not my turn. Answer the question.”

I avert my gaze. “Yes.”

My face tingles from the weight of his stare, and when I turn back to him, I find him watching me with an odd expression, as if he’s biting his tongue.

“I’m telling you the truth. I haven’t done anything with anyone.”

A dark brow arches. “I didn’t say anything.”

“Truth or kiss?”

“Truth.”

“Why do you suddenly want to be my friend?”

He doesn’t blink or hesitate when he answers. “Because I want a relationship with you.”

My stomach somersaults. “Like a sibling relationship?”

Elijah smirks. “You can’t ask two questions. It’s my turn. Truth or kiss?”

“Truth.” I scowl at him.

“Have you ever kissed before me?”

“Yes.”

Elijah’s eyes narrow, and he leans forward, closing the space between us. “You’re lying.”

I lean back and shake my head. “No, I’m not.”

“Yes, you are.” He moves in closer and scowls. “You always swallow hard and look to the right when you’re lying.”

Fuck. “I’m not lying! I’ve kissed before.”

Elijah frowns. “You’re doing it again. That’s three lies. Take off your clothes.”

My jaw drops. “I’m not stripping.”

“You agreed to the rules of the game. Now strip.”

I shoot off the bed and put a good amount of space between us. Elijah remains seated, his hands burrowed in the soft duvet on the mattress.

“I never agreed to the rules.” I take another step backward. “And I’m not playing anymore.”

Elijah leans forward. “You agreed when you started playing. If you don’t take off three things, I’ll do it for you.”

I swallow hard and glance at the bedroom door that’s still a good distance away. Turning back to Elijah, I find him in the same spot and looking seconds away from lunging at me.
