“Well, I need something a little more daring to make you tell me the truth. Now, are you up for playing, or do I need to figure out another way for us to get to know each other? You don’t really want to kiss me again, do you?”

He said he likes me. It’s obvious he wants to do it again, but I’m trying so hard to make him see reason. Maybe for my benefit, because I’m losing sight of why I don’t want to do anything with him.

God, I want to give in so badly and make last night happen again.

A strange look passes over his face, then it’s gone as fast as it appeared. “If you don’t want to kiss, then it’s a good incentive to tell me the truth.”

“You can’t be serious?”

“Deadly.”

I hate his hot-and-cold behavior. It reminds me of when he would sneer at the sight of me.

“If you don’t want to kiss, then how about you remove an article of your clothing if you’re caught lying? Got it?”

I fold my arms under my breasts. “I don’t want to play this game with you.”

“Then how about truth or fuck?”

“What’s wrong with you?”

“You.” He says it so simply, like he’s talking about the weather.

“I didn’t do anything,” I say.

“Is that what you think?”

My lips pinch together, and I take a calming breath through my nose before saying, “Truth or kiss.”

Elijah’s lips curve. “Truth.”

“Do you hate me?”

“No.” He rolls his eyes. “If I hated you, I wouldn’t be playing this game with you. And I’ve already told you I like you. Truth or kiss?”

“Truth.”

“How long has the unknown number been texting you?”

“A year. Truth or kiss?”

“Truth.”

“What’s your favorite color?”

Elijah rolls his eyes. “That’s surface-level, birdie.”

“Fine,” I say with a huff. “Why do you let me touch you if you don’t like it from others?”

He slowly blinks, and a smile creeps onto his face. “That’s much better. It’s because your reactions are far different from the others when you touch me. Truth or kiss?”

“Truth.”

“When did he start touching you?”

I shift on the mattress, suddenly uncomfortable. “A few nights ago. Truth or kiss?”

“Truth.”
