My twin watches with a bored expression, but he can’t fool me. I see the intrigue in his gaze and how it lingers longer on Eden than it should. His eyes slide to me, and a muscle in the corner of his jaw tenses. It’s brief, barely there, and if I hadn’t been watching, I wouldn’t have caught it.
Good. Let him be annoyed. He promised I’d have her, that we’d only make it seem like he slept with her. I challenge him to try to take her for himself.
I shove Eden’s bag toward him. He takes the handle and glares at me before stuffing it into the trunk.
I grab Eden by the elbow and guide her toward the door and fold the front seat down.
“I told you that I’m not riding—” Eden squeaks when I push her head down and into the car. Her ass sticks out and rubs against my crotch, sparking the embers of lust all over again.
It would be so fucking easy to take her like this—face down, ass up, while my brother watches with a jealousy-filled gaze.
Eden crawls into the back seat, and I sit on the other side.
Elijah sits behind the wheel, his eyebrows raised. He meets my glare in the rearview mirror.
“You’re not going to sit up here with me?”
I scowl.
Eden huffs. “I’d like to be sitting somewhere else.”
“Like my lap?” Elijah says with that frustrating smirk, then starts the car.
“That’s not funny.” She folds her arms.
“I wasn’t trying to be.”
I kick the back of his seat. “Drive.”
Two pairs of eyes turn to me. Elijah and Eden stare at me in shocked silence.
I continue glaring at Elijah, refusing to let him see any sliver of weakness.
He fucking promised.
He clears his throat and turns the key in the ignition. The engine purrs to life, and we roll out of the parking lot and down the long drive to the gates.
Jealousy is jealousy. I won’t explain or apologize for my outburst.
Elijah is better with words, as well as flirting.
I’m not.
So yeah, I’m annoyed as fuck that he’s effortlessly flirting with Eden. Bet or not, I don’t like that my brother is making her blush the way she is right now.
“This will be a wonderful three-hour drive with your attitude,” Elijah grumbles.
It’ll be three hours of me trying to think of a perfect way to make my move on Eden. Three hours of glaring at my brother and wondering just how close he and Eden really got.
She’s not blushing because of me. No, it’s because of my twin.
CHAPTER 24
EDEN
DAY 4 OF THE BET
Two hours into the ride, and except for the hour when Elijah turned on the music, it’s been silent. Asher reclines in his seat with his hoodie covering his head. Shadows obscure his eyes, so I don’t know if he’s staring at me or asleep.
