“This has been the plan, Asher. Get her pregnant and marry her so we can get the inheritance.”

I glare at him.

Is he going to tell Eden this plan? Or will he do what he’s done this whole time and keep her in the dark?

More secrets that will leak. More heartbreak.

Just like all the other times, he reads my mood. “I’ll tell her.”

I nod and roll the sucker from side to side. “What if she’s pregnant with my child?”

“It doesn’t matter.” His face softens. “What our father and society think about people with schizoaffective having kids doesn’t fucking matter. You’re just as important as everyone else. I’ll love your son or daughter as much as I would if they were my child.”

I nod and let out a breath. “I’ll join in taking care of the problem. We’ll need someone who’s good with electronics, and I already have an idea of who.”

Elijah tilts his head, questioning who I have in mind.

I level him with a look. “Rome Graves.”

“The bird guy?”

I nod. “He’s the one who was with the Walker brothers.”

His jaw slackens. “That night?”

I dip my chin in a nod.

Elijah pinches the bridge of his nose. “I’ll ask later, but I’m afraid to know why you didn’t tell me.” He drops his hand and turns his cold eyes on me. “We’ll figure everything out. For now, get her into my room, and we’ll start planning.”

I look at Eden’s sleeping face.

It’ll take a lot to get her to trust us again. To openly love us.

Until then, we’ll prove our worth to her.

We’re not the Merciless Twins for nothing, and the school will feel our wrath. We’ll start with Derrick.

CHAPTER 49

EDEN

I crack open my eyes and wince at the throbbing pain. It feels like someone is jackhammering an icepick through my eye and into the back of my head.

“Fuck.” I wince again.

I blink several times, hoping it chases away the pain. After a while, it fades, and I look around.

The setting has changed.

I’m no longer outside my car with Asher.

Sunlight beams through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The rays land directly on the bed and fire into my eyes. It’s not exactly helping the lingering ache in my head.

Sleek black furniture sits near the windows. A chessboard waits on a small table between the chairs. A matching dresser is tucked against the wall near the bed’s headboard.

I’m definitely not in my dorm.

I roll onto my side and move my arms, only to be stopped short. My hands remain behind my back. Peering over my shoulder, I try to see what the hell has me tied up. I move my legs and realize that I’m tied down there, too.
