His eyes narrow, and he glares at me for a moment before turning his attention back to her. I open the door and pop the seat down for him to get out with me. We creep toward the Mustang while the brothers are distracted.

Eden glances at us and reaches for Austin, playfully touching his arm.

Red fills my vision.

She’s touching another man, and I want to dismember the motherfucker.

Asher steps away and charges toward them. I grab his arm and yank him back.

“Stick to the plan,” I whisper harshly.

He whips his gaze toward me, eyes narrowed and pitch black. His dilated pupils leave only a sliver of color in his irises. He bares his teeth in a snarl.

I clench my teeth and drag him to the other side of the Walker brothers’ car, where we won’t be seen.

“Focus on the mission,” I growl.

Asher scowls at me, then peers around the corner to check on Eden.

I grab him by the collar and drag him back. “Do you have the wrench?”

He pulls the tool from his pocket, his gaze locked on Eden.

I snatch the wrench from him and maneuver the tool on the lug nuts, loosening each one and keeping quiet.

By the time I finish the last nut, Asher leaps to his feet and rounds the car. He stalks toward Eden with the brothers’ backs to us. I sigh and pinch the bridge of my nose before following him to save Eden.

Asher grabs Eden’s arm and drags her away from the brothers. I follow them to the Camaro and meet Asher’s stare over the top of the car.

“You almost got us caught,” I say.

He shrugs and slides into the back seat while Eden takes the front.

I take a calming breath and sit behind the wheel. Eden glances at me, then Asher stewing in the back seat before returning her focus to me.

“What did you guys do?” she says.

I cast a beaming smile at her. “You’ll see.”

Her eyebrows pinch together. “It wasn’t something illegal, was it?”

“Oh, it’s very much illegal, but the brothers had it coming.” I start the car. The engine purrs to life and rumbles the vehicle.

“What did they do?”

I consider my next words, debating if I should tell her.

Fuck it. She’ll find out either way, and she needs a reason why she had to help me that’s better than because I said so.

“They—”

“They vandalized your car,” Asher says. He cuts a look at me, then levels her with his stare. “We’re just returning the favor.”

Eden’s eyes round, and her lips part. “What?”

“That car meant nothing to you anyway,” I say. I wince at how harsh my words come out when I didn’t mean for them to.

She glares at me. “It was a gift.”
