"You really should find another blood donor," I said, as he walked to the fridge. "You're never going to find a mate if you keep feeding on me."

"I have no interest in biting anyone else."

I trapped my bottom lip between my teeth.

His lack of interest in biting anyone other than me wasn't new, but it also wasn't a good sign.

Not at all.

The fact that I had no interest in letting anyone else bite me wasn't, either.

King grabbed one of the meals labeled POSTGAME. We had the same performance chef, so he already knew the instructions about how to heat up that specific meal.

Neither of us said anything until he sat back down on the bar stool beside mine, setting the plate in front of me and handing me a fork.

"Do you think we should worry about that?" I finally asked. "You, not wanting to bite anyone but me? On top of the possessiveness that you refuse to address or change?"

"No."

I waited for King to elaborate.

He didn't.

He adjusted my ice pack again instead. I swore loudly as he positioned it over part of my arm, in a place where he had to hold it, to make sure it didn't budge.

"You know we're playing with fire," I gritted out, clenching my fork tightly in my hand.

"I like fire."

"We could end up mated, King."

"I can think of worse things."

I pinned him with a look of horror.

He met my gaze steadily.

I ripped my eyes away from him and forced myself to eat a bite of food. It may as well have been flavorless, for all the attention I paid it.

I took another bite.

And another.

Still couldn't come to terms with him not thinking a mate bond between us was the worst possible outcome.

"Did you know there's fanart about us on the internet?" I asked, my focus on the food so I didn't have to look at him.

"Yeah. You didn't?"

"No."

"Some of it's really good," he said.

"You've looked at it?"

"And read it. There's fanfiction, too."

"Oh my god. You can't be serious."
