"Your mind is messing with you. You’ve created all this stuff in your head that doesn't exist.”
Trevor stepped forward, the shaky barrel drawing closer to Marcus. "Don't tell me what I have in my head and what I don't.”
"Okay,” Marcus said, still filming. “I'm just trying to tell you, your girl hasn’t been unfaithful."
"I'm not his girl anymore," Peyton said. “I can fuck whoever I want. And you know what? I’m going to fuck both of them tonight.”
That tormented Trevor even more. With tears spilling over, he said to Peyton, "We had something really special."
"Yeah, so special that you're out here with a gun, making false accusations. You’re a psycho, dude. I don't want anything to do with you.”
She certainly wasn't talking him off the ledge.
Trevor glared at Marcus. "Stop filming me!"
"Okay, take it easy, bro." Again, Marcus didn’t stop recording. He just aimed the camera at the dirt, then set it down to free himself up.
It kept rolling, capturing a wide-angle of the action.
"How do we fix this situation?” Garrett asked.
"There's no fixing the situation!" Trevor growled. "It's ruined. You destroyed it.” He took aim at Garrett, and his finger wrapped tight around the trigger.
Marcus charged him. He grabbed for the weapon and tackled Trevor to the ground.
BANG!
Muzzle flash flickered as the weapon went off.
Peyton shrieked in horror. "Trevor, stop!”
The gun went off again.
The bang echoed through the forest.
That was the end of the footage.
I shared a look with Jack.
He cringed. “Something tells me it didn’t work out too well for Peyton and her friends.”
“I think we need to have another talk with Trevor.”

We gathered outside Trevor's apartment with a tactical team. We had enough probable cause for an arrest warrant. A murder charge probably wouldn't stick, but aggravated assault with a deadly weapon would. The video evidence made that indisputable.
I put a heavy fist against the door and shouted, "Coconut County, we have a warrant!"
It was the wee hours of the morning.
Trevor didn't answer.
With a nod, Erickson heaved a battering ram against the door, splintering the jamb. The door flung wide, and we flooded into the apartment.
Again, I shouted, "Coconut County! We have a warrant!”
With weapons shouldered, we advanced down the foyer and across the living room to the bedroom.
