He held the camcorder up.

Him: I KNOW DAMN WELL NONE OF MY NIGGAS GOT PINK VIDEO CAMERAS, FOLKS. IF THERE WAS SOME BITCHES THERE, WHY WASN’T THERE ANY BITCHES DEAD? WHY DIDN’T ANY LEAVE THE HOUSE IN BAGS?! IT WAS LATE BUT NOT THAT LATE. WHY WASN’T NO NAKED HOES RUNNING AROUND, GETTING CRACKED?! Y’ALL KNEW HOW THESE BITCHES GOT DOWN FOR MY COUSIN. AS SOON AS I FIND THE BITCHES THAT SET MY NIGGAS UP, I’M MURKING EM, ON GRANNY! MAGGOT ASS HOES!

Kenzie flew out of the room and to the living room. We all rushed, following quickly behind her. She dumped her purse out, rummaging through its contents. No camcorder.

“MACKENZIE!” Cassie screamed to the top of her lungs.

“I didn’t have it last, I swear! I was just...it was soooo...”

“I had it last but I sat it down, Kenzie. I just assumed you would pick your shit up. It wasn’t mine!” I yelled.

Cassie snapped her head towards me, “You should’ve given it back to Kenzie, then!”

“NO, KENZIE SHOULD’VE GOTTEN HER SHIT WHEN WE WERE GETTING RID OF THE DRINKS AND CUPS!” Tatianna shouted.

I fell to the couch, “What the fuck are we going to do?! They think we set them niggas up! We didn’t! We’re all over that fucking camcorder!”

“Wait! He said that they didn’t know who it was!” Kenzie said hopefully. “I never used it anywhere before last night. It also locks after it goes to sleep with a passcode!”

Cassie noticeably calmed down, “Good! That’s good! What’s the code?”

“....My birthday”

“OH MY GODDDDDDDDD!” the three of us shouted.

“Kenzie, I snuck that nigga into The Ninth. All his niggas know I stopped by that gas station the other day. We jumped Pink! It’s not going to be long before they start figuring that shit out and come to us or worse, easily put in our birthdays!”

I watched as MacKenzie slapped her forehead, silently crying. Tati paced back and forth, cussing and saying she wish we never went. Although I was shocked, angry, and afraid...I got up, wrapping my arms around MacKenzie. Cassie stood, rubbing her face.

“It’s okay, Kenzie. That house wasn’t a secret. That address is on Instagram flyers every other weekend. The whole city knows where it’s at! His friend said it in the video. Hoes stay in that mansion. They have no way of knowing if that camcorder was from the last party or last night. Our DNA being in there? We were seen there already at the last party. We’re going to be able to shake this off of us!” I could tell Cassie was grasping at anything. Luckily, it all made sense.

“They saying he posted the duffle full of money on his close friends...” Tatianna offered.

“SEE! Anybody could’ve seen that shit and came to the house for it. Sent niggas after the money. No one, twelve or some niggas, can prove we set them up, G. We were there and shit went left, period. Also...the drinks! The camcorder was sitting on the table, right? We knocked all the drinks over. That camcorder could be fucked up!”

I vaguely remembered the pool of liquid spreading over the table quickly. The camcorder was right by the drinks. I nodded my head quickly in agreeance.

“What do we do? Should we leave?!” Tati asked.

“No. Leaving is too suspicious, especially when they’re looking for bitches. The Ninth will be shut down tonight with security all around it. We’ll go to work. Play dumb. Come straight back to the apartment. Tati, you’ll send Kelisha, Doodas, and TayTay to Detroit. We’ll stay here. The morning after tomorrow, I’ll go to visitation. I’ll tell K3. We’ll be okay.”

“You’re going to tell him?” I asked quietly.

“For us, hell yeah. I’d rather get cussed out than us get killed. The last thing he needs is this shit getting out about me. If he was out, I wouldn’t have to say a word. But he’s not. So I have to tell him so he can put the order in for us. To keep us protected.”

Kenzie stood, “So we just...go to work?”

“We just go to work...” Cassie confirmed.

Chapter 25

Cassie’s POV

“C-DOLLASSSSSS!”

Liv yelling brought me back to reality. The bodies around me zoomed past, no longer moving in slow motion. My head was so fucked up, G. A million things were crossing my mind. For the first time, I was actually scared to leave my apartment.

“You straight?” Liv tapped my arm with her empty clipboard.
