But I got pulled into Court’s lap halfway there, and the entire table went silent as they stared at the two of us.
I guess they hadn’t seen us interacting until then.
Because they all look shocked.
The last thing they knew, I’d been vehemently against having anything to do with Courtland Navarro.
Now, I was sitting in his lap and not losing my mind.
“What…” Creed pointed between the two of us with his mouth gaping open. “What’s going on here?”
Birdee, trying to stage whisper, said “I don’t know what the hell I’m seeing right now, but I feel like Christmas just came early.”
Court chuckled, pulling me back into his chest.
“It’s new.” I shrugged. “We kind of stopped fighting it.”
“She moved into my place because we think that Seraphina’s retaliating against her by making her life as miserable as she can.” Court shifted, and I felt his cock press against my backside.
His hard cock.
“So you’re just pretending?” Hopps asked as he threw a peanut into his mouth and the shell onto the ground.
“Not anymore,” Court drawled.
Birdee squealed and danced in her husband’s lap.
I shook my head and laughed. “It’s not that big of a deal.”
“Are you joking?” Romeo, who wasn’t officially a Dixie Warden but I had a feeling came here because of the whole hiding from the law thing, leaned back in his chair. “The last time I saw you two together at a Dixie Warden party, you were glaring daggers at each other from across the room. Then when y’all both got up to grab burgers, Court got the last toasted bun, and you accused him of being anti-short people.”
I burst into laughter.
“You saw his face, though, didn’t you?” I teased. “He was appalled. He reached right over my head for it, though. As if I wasn’t even standing there!”
“I apologized,” the man who’d ruined my day by stealing my toasted bun grumbled.
“You did, but you still got the last toasted bun,” I pointed out.
His thumb started sweeping back and forth over my ribs, right under my left breast.
No one else noticed the move, though. Which made me feel like I was in a fever dream.
Just a little bubble for only him and me.
The conversation continued, everyone adding their two cents by the time that they were done.
“Were we that bad?” I whispered into Court’s ear.
“I mean, I guess?” He shrugged. “It didn’t feel that way for me, though.”
“Me, neither,” I admitted. “Kind of like foreplay, if you ask me. A whole year of it.”
He squeezed me tight.
That was how we were sitting when Court’s parents walked in.
Court, no longer dressed in his suit and tie, was now dressed in jeans, a t-shirt, his club cut declaring him a member of the Dixie Wardens MC Montana Chapter, didn’t see them at first.
