As the laughter died, I ran my finger over the corner of his eye where a crease remained. The lines that marked years of laughter together. “I love you, Zevander Rydainn.”

Reverence smoldered in his gaze, and he tucked a hair behind my ear. “I love you, Lunamiszka,” he said, and he slanted his lips over mine for a kiss that stole my breath. A little over a decade with this man, and somehow the passion still burned between us. An undying ember he’d managed to stoke into a raging fire time and time again. Even then, he had me squirming beneath him, my hand wandering down his back to the firm cheeks that my fingers could hardly grasp. “And now, without further delay, I’m going to fuck my wife until she begs me to get her pregnant again.”

I sighed. “It’s going to be a long night, then?”

A predatory smile pulled at his lips. “The longest.” Teeth grazed my throat, while his hand roamed down my stomach to the apex of my thighs, and his fingertips met my aching entrance.

Raking my fingers through his hair, I tipped my head back, drifting into ecstasy, and lifted my gaze to the shadowy corner of the ceiling.

To a shimmer that didn’t belong.

The air in my lungs froze.

The shadow shifted, and I turned to see a breeze blowing the curtain.

When I looked again, the glimmer of light was gone.

I exhaled a trembling breath of relief and allowed Zevander to draw me out of my head, as he wedged his broad shoulders between my legs.

As the curtain settled to stillness, though, something else caught my attention from that same corner of the room.

An intricately woven web.
