“Don’t be. It’s okay, shh…”

I jerked when his hand fell onto my head, petting my hair. He kept going, and I soon found it soothing. Gently, he nudged me back down onto the pillows. I sighed and relaxed as he wrapped his warmth around me. He was naked too.

“I don’t understand. Why am I blindfolded?”

“He made me do it. He didn’t want you to see where he was taking us.”

I turned toward his voice. “Do you know where we’re at?”

“Another secret bunker. He knows this place better than I do.” Asher’s hand began to roam my bare skin, and a shiver ran through me, causing bumps to rise on the surface.

“Where is he now? When is he coming back?” I reached my hands out, searching for his chest. I ran my fingers through the soft curls on his pectorals, studying his body in the dark.

“No idea. He shut the door. It’s just us here.” Pressing against me, his hard length explained his intentions. His hand found the apex of my thighs, and I sighed. “Let’s take in the moment while we can.” His breath warmed my face as he leaned in. I parted my lips, and we kissed.

And I froze.

This wasn’t Asher.

There was no mustache.

I yanked away, as if I’d been burned.

“Who are you?” I demanded, kicking my feet and clawing at the mask over my face. “Sawyer?”

He cleared his throat and cackled, reaching over to shove me back down.

“What tipped you off? Was my kiss just that good you could tell the difference?”

I scurried back until I fell backward off the bed. A cry of sharp pain escaped my lips as I landed on my bad side.

“Get this fucking off me!” I yanked on the mask. It was too tight to simply slip off.

“Why?” His fingers curled around my wrist, and he pulled me back up onto the bed, scraping my legs on the frame. I sobbed as he threw me back onto the pillows and rolled on top of me. “Just close your eyes and pretend it’s him if you have to. You think I haven’t thought of you every time I fucked someone else?”

Sawyer kicked my thighs open with his knees, and I pounded my fists into his chest, trying to shove him off.

“Don’t do this, Sawyer,” I pleaded as he pressed hot, sloppy kisses on my breasts. “There’s no turning back from this.”

“I blew someone’s brains out just twenty-four hours ago. You think I care about this?” He pinched my nipple until I cried out in pain, arching my back.

“You’re a monster,” I sobbed.

“I’m only the monster you made me.”

I began to hyperventilate as I knew there was no stopping this. He was determined to have me, and I was trapped.

“What are you doing?” Juliet’s shrill scream pierced the air, causing us to freeze and turn. It gave me just the right amount of time to shove him off and scramble up.

“Please, get this off me!” I tugged on the mask. “Juliet, please,” I pleaded.

“How did you get in here?” Sawyer snarled.

“It doesn’t matter. What were you doing?”

They ignored me, and I blindly felt around for something to cover myself up. Their fighting became muffled noise in the background as I focused on my breathing, trying not to panic.

I needed to get the keys, and then I needed to find Ash.
