Beth grinned and raised a single eyebrow. “You think that’s a threat?”
He picked up the remote and turned off the TV before switching off the lamp by his bed. The light from the streets came through the shears, giving them enough to see each other.
He slid into bed and then pulled her impatiently against him, making her laugh. Her laugh was cut off when he rolled until she was under him, making sure to keep most of his weight off her, and his lips took hers with a hunger that amazed and thrilled her.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and gave herself over to him. It seemed to take forever for him to strip them, pull on a condom, and thrust into her, helping to make the ache inside her subside a bit.
He held her pinned beneath him. One of his hands cupped the back of her head, while the other gripped her ass to lift her hips enough so he could dive deeper.
She bit her lips to keep from crying out as her thoughts spiraled out of control, and the desire pushed her over. She pressed her face against his neck to diminish the passion-filled sounds she was making.
She sighed when he quickly followed.
He took care of the condom and then pulled her into his arms. He tilted her head up for one more sweet kiss. “I love you.”
Beth felt tears stinging her eyes as she ran her fingers over his masculine face. “I love you, too.”
He pulled her tighter against him and tipped her head up to see her face. “What would you think about not using condoms anymore?”
“Do we really want to push making a baby?”
“Why wait? Neither of us is getting younger, and we want to have at least two more. If they are two years apart, and you get pregnant next year, you’ll be close to forty. I don’t want you to be put in jeopardy, and I know the older a woman is, the more complications.”
She nodded. “May I ask, what did you two decide about when we were getting married?” she asked sarcastically.
He snorted. “As soon as possible. Can you take a weekend off soon?”
She thought about it for a moment. “I don’t see a problem. What about you? Can you take some time off?”
“I’ve got a lot of vacation time and no major issues I have to deal with at work,” he said. “So, you’re good?”
“Yes. Nothing is coming up, and Sandra can take care of the day-to-day without me. I still think we’re rushing it. Can we wait a month, at least?”
“We love each other and are good together. We’ve got more going for us than most married people I know. Does Jayden have anything?”
“He doesn’t start games for another month, but...”
He pressed his lips against hers. “Good.”
“Are we really going to do this?”
Roman cupped her face. “Yes.”
“There’s just so much to think about.”
“Like what?”
“Would you be okay living in my house?”
“Sure.”
She relaxed. “Really? I don’t want to uproot Jayden, and the chance of finding another house in the district that Jayden goes to school is pretty slim.”
“I will do whatever is best for our family.”
She kissed him sweetly. “I really do love you.”
“Good, because you’re stuck with me.”
