“I’ve had my daughter write back to her in English. She said she had someone over there to interpret it to her.”
“If you would ever like to write to her in Italian, I can help with that.”
“You are such a dear. You’ve made my birthday extremely special.”
“Is it okay if I take her for a bit, Grandma?”
“Yes, of course. I’ve been hoarding her. We’ll talk later.”
“I’d like that,” Beth said and took Roman’s hand.
He pulled her over to the side, where they had a bit of privacy. “How are you holding up?”
She grinned up at him. “Good. I’m not used to the attention, but I’m glad it pleased your grandmother so much.”
“Hey, what are you guys doing in the corner...” Tysen yelled.
Beth gasped and then frowned his way, making him laugh.
“Let’s go check on Jayden.”
“I’d like that. By the way, if I get the chance to, I’m going to kick your brother.”
Roman burst out laughing. “I’ll hold him for you.”
“No, if someone is going to be arrested for assault, it should be me. It was my idea.”
Roman snorted. “Do you think I’ve never kicked my brother?”
“I-I don’t know. I was an only child.”
He kissed her forehead. “I kicked all of their asses. It was my right as the oldest.”
She chuckled.
Roman showed her a bedroom where several children sat on a large bed and were either watching or playing the game.
Tristian and Jayden were the two playing the game, and the others cheered them on.
Beth saw the look on her son’s face and teared up.
Roman saw and cupped her face in his hands. “Hey, what’s wrong?”
She smiled. “Nothing. It’s just amazing to see him interacting with your family. He looks so happy.”
He hugged her to his chest. “Don’t tell anyone I told you, but my family’s pretty great,” he mumbled out the side of his mouth, making her laugh.
She snorted. “I won’t tell.”
Chapter Sixteen
He grabbed her hand. “Come with me.”
He tugged her along until they came to another door. He pulled her in, closed the door, pressed her up against it, and then took her mouth.
He nibbled and licked her lips until she opened, and then he let his tongue dive in and duel with hers.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and groaned.
