“I had a feeling that you meant a lot to people growing up.”

“Maybe.” I bite my lip. “I still feel like shit about leaving behind my brother and the reservation and everyone.”

“There’s no time like the present.”

“Huh?”

“Why don’t you reach out to him? Your brother, that is.”

“Oh.” I mull it over as we make it to my car. “What if…what if he, like, hates me?”

“At least then you tried.”

Arie might have a point. If my brother doesn’t forgive me, at the very least, I still have friends and an amazing dude I’m in love with. The world will go on. “Mmm, I’ll think about it.” Once we’re in my car, I start the engine and glance at Arie. “That reminds me. Can I show you something?”

“Anything,” he replies, petting Reginald.

Several minutes later, we’re back home, sitting on our bed. It’s funny how this place wasn’t truly a home until Arie moved in. I don’t mind that there’s some luggage with Arie’s stuff occupying a whole corner of my attic. I don’t even care that Reginald has all but claimed the windowsill as his own area. It’s been a short period of time, but I wouldn’t mind building a future with my boyfriend, the avian whisperer.

Right now, however, I hold my past in my hands. “This…is what I wanted to show you.”

“You’ll have to tell me what it is. Or did you want me to borrow Reginald’s eyes?” We share a soft laugh, and he touches my shoulder.

“It’s…letters. From my old agent. I’ve spent years ignoring everything other than royalty payment checks.”

“Maybe there are other royalty checks you’re missing?” Arie asks with a grin.

“Doubtful.” I gaze at the stack of letters. “I’ve been so scared to face my past. To relive being a singing, dancing monster, the mothboy on TV. But now…”

Arie rubs my arm. “Hey. You don’t have to. And I won’t judge you if you don’t.”

“But I want to.” I pause and exchange a smile with Arie. “Because you make me strong.”

I lean down to briefly kiss him. Then, I begin the monumental process of opening up the letters. I spend the next thirty minutes reading each one out loud. Each note details the same sentiments, each from a different person from around the world: they’re pages of adoration.

Each fan letter is filled with reverence for That’s My Mothboy. My heart is filled with joy from all these strangers describing how important my work on TV was for them. I’m so overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, all for me. Arie listens intently the entire time. By the fourth letter, I don’t even bother hiding the tears of joy that stream down my face. Naturally, my boyfriend cuddles up to me and wipes my tears all the while.

In his arms, I’m not at all ashamed by the display of emotion. I don’t feel weak or ridiculous for crying over fan mail, not when Arie Baker is sharing a bed with me. He makes me feel complete. With him, I’m able to face my past, and hopefully, make him my future as well.

The following week, I’m stretching and yawning as the morning sunlight bathes my face. It’s the first day of break, and the first day with nothing to do. There are no classes, and no meetings with detectives or lawyers to prepare for the upcoming trial of Arie’s family. Most of the brothers in the house have gone home. The quiet feels so good that I never want to leave this bed. I just want to stay in with Arie.

But he’s not here. And by the windowsill, Reginald is gone, too. This probably means he’s out doing some errands without me, discreetly using his birds to see where he’s going. Why didn’t he wake me up? I would have happily gone with him to buy groceries. We’ll be celebrating Christmas with Seth and some friends in a few days, and I know he wanted to buy presents. There’s no way Arie went to the mall without me, right?

“Good morning, you.” His purring voice is a sound for sore ears. Arie approaches me, and I grin at him. He’s dressed in only a towel, as well as a horny grin.

“Morning, baby,” I say through a yawn.

Arie steps forward, with Reginald in his palms, and I can tell he can see me. So, I decide to toss the covers off and reveal my body. I know Arie loves me no matter how I look, but I do enjoy giving him a show. I tease my morning wood through my plaid boxers and grin at him.

“I see someone wants to celebrate the first day of break the way I wanted to.” His lascivious tone is unmistakable.

“I’m happy for you that you can see sometimes, baby.” I turn to my side as he crawls in bed toward me. “But ditch the bird so we can share some sexy times in bed.”

“Aye aye, Captain.” Arie relinquishes Reginald, who flies right out the window. Good, I’m glad his familiar knows we’re about to get busy.

Arie giggles as I kiss from his lips down to his neck. When I splay open the towel, his hard cock is ready for me. “Mort, baby,” he rasps through a moan.

“Yes, my love,” I whisper. I tongue kiss his nipples, left then right, and he writhes on the bed. It’s so delicious, giving him that pleasure with my mouth.
