“W-what the fuck?” His voice was shaky, which concerned me.
“Christian, are you okay?”
“I’m good,” he said, rolling over. When he saw Smoove standing over him, fury swirled in his eyes. I had never seen him so angry.
Smoove laughed tauntingly. “Surprised to see me? I bet you motherfuckers thought you got rid of me, but I’m too smart for that. I've been sitting back, plotting and waiting. Thanks to you coming here, I don’t have to go out looking for you. You came to me.”
I was confused as to what he was talking about. I didn’t know anything had transpired between them since the day Christian mowed my grandmother’s lawn.
Christian glared at Smoove. “So, what’s the plan?” His voice was calm, like he didn’t have any worries.
“I’m glad you’re willing to cooperate. I would hate to use Brit as motivation.” He grinned wickedly as he stood over Christian. “Now, Morgan told me you’re a very wealthy man. What you’re going to do is wire ten million dollars to my bank account. You’re going to pay me back what I lost and then some.”
“Done,” Christian agreed quickly.
I knew the second Christian wired that money, Smoove would kill him. “Christian, no,” I said, shaking my head.
“I said shut the fuck up!” Morgan roared, and the gun went off.
I swear I felt the bullet whiz past my arm. Smoove shoved Morgan, glaring at her. “I told you we need her alive!”
“I don’t care!” she snapped. “I want this bitch dead.”
She aimed the gun at me again, but this time Smoove tried to take it from her. They tussled a bit, and the gun went off again. Smoove staggered backward, clutching his chest. Blood seeped through his fingers as he fell to the ground. Morgan stood frozen in shock. She dropped to the ground beside him.
“Smoove, I didn’t mean it! Open your eyes!” she pleaded as his breathing labored before his body went limp.
While she was distracted, I figured I could catch her off guard and take the gun. As soon as the thought entered my mind, she was back on her feet, aiming the gun at me.
“Morgan, you don’t have to do this,” Christian said gently.
“Don’t say another word, or I swear I’ll kill her right now.”
I was becoming angrier by the second. The fact that I had been trying to make sure she didn’t end up with the very fate she was trying to give to me had enraged me. I would never want to see her dead, yet she was standing in my face, threatening to kill me.
“What have I ever done to deserve this from you?”
Morgan let out a dark chuckle. “What have you done? You ruin everything, for starters. Every guy I liked wanted you. I had eyes on Smoove forever, but what did you do? You went and got with him.”
“You never told me you liked him, so how was I supposed to know?”
She stepped a little closer, gritting her teeth. “I’m not going to tell you again to shut up.” She started pacing while glaring at me. “If that wasn’t enough, you took Julian from me. We had been sleeping together for months, and then all of a sudden he saw you and wanted you instead. But I wasn’t about to lose him. So, we continued to have sex, even while you two were together. Then you left him, and somehow, he was pissed at me!”
I couldn’t believe my ears. I wanted to throw up. Both of them needed help, if you asked me. Julian had the nerve to cause a ruckus in my life all while sleeping with my little sister. And Morgan, she was really starting to make me hate her miserable ass. The fact that she slept with Julian the entire time I was with him was disgusting.
“If things weren’t already bad, once he beat Julian's ass at the charity ball, he wouldn’t speak to me. Even after I told him I was pregnant. He wants nothing to do with me or our baby, and it’s all your fault. Had you never left him, everything would have been fine!”
I was speechless. She was seriously standing there telling me I was wrong because I didn’t stay with a man who was sleeping with both of us. If she didn’t have that gun in her hand, I would be whooping her ass throughout this living room despite the fact we were both pregnant.
Morgan picked up a laptop and handed it to me. “Now, I need you to sign into his bank account and wire me that money. I’m going to go enjoy a life of luxury on your man’s dime.”
“I don’t know how to do that,” I told her.
She slammed the butt of the gun against my head. “Figure it out!”
“Hey!” Christian yelled angrily. “You don’t have to hit her.”
Morgan turned her attention to Christian. It was now or never. I slammed the laptop against the hand she had holding the gun, and she dropped it. I followed up with another slam to her face. Morgan spun around, dazed from the hit. Before she could try to make a run for the gun, I slammed my fist in her face three times, and she fell onto the sofa.
