“You, Mom. It’s really starting to drain me to be around you and Morgan. We’re nothing alike. All you and Morgan care about is public perception and money. You’re mean and sometimes downright hateful to others.”
She picked at her nails uncaringly. “Someone has to give a damn about how others view our family. You’ve been doing everything you can to embarrass us. How dare you blab your mouth about my business to my mother!” she growled, glaring at me.
I shrugged my shoulders. “Technically it’s my business too. He is my father. Plus, I told you I was going to look for him. Did you think I was bluffing?”
“What the hell has gotten into you? Ever since you met that boy, you have become very disrespectful, and I’m not having it!”
“No, I’ve become fed up. I’m tired of bending to you and Myron’s rule just to be unhappy while being mistreated. It’s a losing battle. You don’t recognize me anymore because, for the first time ever, I’m putting myself first. Something I should have done a long time ago.”
“And you’re proud of that? Your decisions have been so selfish. They demoted Myron at his job. There’s already been whispers about them letting him go as well. Had you never left Julian, none of this would be happening. We could lose everything that your father worked for.”
My head jerked back at her audacity. “If Myron was any good at his job, leaving Julian wouldn’t have affected him. You know just as well as I do, he only got that promotion because I agreed to date Julian. Which I never should have done in the first place. I told both of you I didn’t want to be with him, but you didn’t care. The only thing that matters to either of you is money. After finding out the truth, I know why Myron didn’t care, but you? You’ve never had my back.”
I watched her eyes glaze over. “How can you fix your mouth to say we don’t care about you? All we wanted was what was best for you. Myron saw that Julian could give you the life you deserved. Is that a crime?”
“Yes! I didn’t want any of those things! I wanted to be loved!” I shouted in frustration.
“Oh, grow up, Brittney. You sound childish right now. Love can’t keep a roof over your head.”
“And money can’t buy my happiness either.”
She sighed heavily. “All that doesn’t even matter anymore. You’ve managed to land yourself a bigger fish, and from what I saw at the ball, you two are fond of each other. Now, all we need you to do is to bring our families together.”
I was officially rendered speechless. It’s like a light bulb went off in my head. She and Myron were users to the highest degree. She didn’t care who they had to step on to get their wealth down to her own daughter. It was starting to seem like Christian was right. Some people you just had to walk away from. It was going to hurt me to do so. I loved my mother. She was just very flawed. I couldn’t take her deceitful and vindictive ways anymore.
“I will never arrange such a thing, so you can let that go. Even if I wanted to try, Christian wants nothing to do with you or your husband. And now, neither do I.” Her mouth dropped open in shock. “Now, I need you to leave. My next client should be here soon, and I need to prep.”
She watched me in silence for a moment before picking up her purse. “You will see things my way. This isn’t over. Trust me.” She turned around and stormed out of the room.
I didn’t know what she meant by that, but I wasn’t about to allow her to get to me. I had finally found out what it meant when someone chose their peace, and I wasn’t about to let anyone disturb that. I didn’t give a damn who they were.
Chapter Nineteen
TORCH
“Shit!” I groaned as Brittney slid up and down my hardness. We had been going at it for hours. I didn’t know how much more I had left in me.
One thing I could say for certain was that we both had a healthy sexual appetite for each other. There were times when Brit was the aggressor, and I loved it. I had never allowed a woman to take the lead in the bedroom. But with Brit, I craved it sometimes.
The way she could ride me like a fuckin’ stallion was enough to make me insane. Not to mention what she could do with her mouth. We were always competing, trying to make the other tap out. Brittney was the epitome of the saying a lady in the streets and a freak in the sheets.
A few times I had thoughts about killing any man who had the pleasure of being inside her. I was that far gone.
Propping myself up on my elbows, I watched as she rode me in reverse cowgirl. Her cream coated my entire shaft. I couldn’t take my eyes off her round ass as it jiggled each time she slammed down on me.
“Chris… Baby,” she whimpered with her head thrown back.
“Look at me,” I commanded, trying to keep my voice steady. It was taking everything in me not to cry out in ecstasy.
Brit did as I asked, peeping over her shoulder to stare into my eyes. Biting her lip lustfully, she suddenly paused her movements. I was ready to protest until she spread her legs into a split while keeping my stiffness planted inside her. My mouth dropped open as she placed her hands on my thighs and began to vigorously bounce.
There were those murderous thoughts again. Somebody was going to die. There was no way she could do these types of things to me and expect me to stay sane.
“Fuck, beautiful.” My voice cracked, and I felt the need to take back control. I was seconds away from losing my man card if I kept letting her handle me like this.
Gripping her waist, I bent my knees and started plowing into her from below. All that could be heard was skin clapping and her wetness.
“Ohhhhh, right there, Christian!” she screamed right as she started raining down on me for the fifth time tonight. I continued my assault until her release was over.
