He chuckled, kissed the side of my neck, and then pinched my other nipple. “Mm, spicy. You’re so fucking hot. So sexy. So ready to do it.” His free hand gripped my inner thigh as his tongue worked over my earlobe and his fingers pinched my nipple harder. My hips jerked forward, and all I wanted in the moment was him inside of me.

“Yes, Kobe.”

“You’re ready to do it, spicy?”

“God, yes,” I cried out.

He grabbed my hand and pulled me away from the mirror and toward our balcony doors. “Uhm, where are we going, Kobe?”

“You said you’re ready to do it.”

“I thought—I thought . . .”

“Thought what? We’re getting married. That is the surprise that you planned for me, right?” he asked as he led me outside and winked at me over his shoulder.

“Wait!” I reached underneath my dress and removed my panties. I tossed them over my shoulder as he chuckled at me. “How did you guess it?”

He laughed. “You became extremely busy after I proposed to you. You had plenty of questions, kept asking if I was sure that I didn’t need a big wedding, planned a surprise trip up here, and then today, I have a suit laid out for me—a suit that my tailor was working on for my wedding day, I might add.”

I gasped. “He never told me what the suit was for.”

“No, he didn’t. He did know what I wanted it for, and when you called and told him what you needed, he knew it was perfect for this.”

“He told you?”

“Let’s just say that he told me that he was finishing my suit for a very important occasion.”

I groaned and he laughed.

“When did you start having him work on the suit?”

“While we were still on the farm. I knew then that I wasn’t ever letting you get away again.”

I threw my head back as the tears pricked my eyes. “Why is it every time I try to surprise you, sir, you get one over on me.”

He winked as he led me down a path where a small group of people were gathered, along with the officiant who worked at the retreat. My eyes watered, and I gasped when I saw my dad standing at the head of the trail.

“How did you do this?” I whispered to Kobalt as I looked at the other guests in attendance. It was a small, intimate ceremony made up of our families and close friends, including my brother and Niagara.

“You left the brochure to this place in my car, and you had a circle around the description about it being a perfect wedding venue. I decided to add to it. This way, no one feels left out, and you don’t have regrets in the end.”

My eyes watered as I stared into his. “This is why I love you, Kobe. Thank you.”

He winked at me and smiled again as we approached my father. “I know this is unusual, but I’m handing you off to your daddy so that he can walk you down the aisle and then hand you back off to me. Now, I’m gonna turn and walk down that aisle, beautiful, but when I walk away, don’t take that as your opportunity to get cold feet and run.”

I laughed as he placed my hand inside of my father’s. When I turned to my daddy, he smiled. “You were not about to leave your old man out of the most important day of your life.”

“How did he—know?”

“He’s known you almost all your life. That man can read you about as well as anyone can,” Daddy explained.

He looked nice in an espresso-colored suit with a harvest-gold shirt.

“Are you mad at me?” I asked as the violinist played Etta James’s “At Last.”

“Never, baby girl. I couldn’t be prouder of you for holding out for a love that will last a lifetime. I’m just glad you two finally figured it out—that you were the one each other needed.”

He led me down the aisle and gave me a kiss on both cheeks before he gave my hand to Kobalt. “Thank you,” Daddy stated to Kobalt.
