I rubbed at my neck, half-laughing.

“Shit. Fuck.” He backed away from the bed, holding up his hands—the skin already knitting itself back together. “My bad. I’m sorry.”

We stared at each other for a moment; the faint burn scent lingered in the air.

“Let’s stop. I’m gonna hurt you. I have no control over my wolf. It’s too risky.”

He sincerely looked worried. Concerned.

I took a slow breath. The stronger the connection, the better my odds. Sex would build that bond. So no, I wasn’t stopping. I had to take the risk. He had to have me.

“Yes, you do,” I told him, giving him something solid to hold on to. “I know you can control him, Dro.”

He didn’t seem convinced by my words.

“Come here, Dorian.” He didn’t move. I pushed myself off the bed, my legs steadier than I expected. The burn in my throat had faded to an ache I could ignore. I went to him, reaching up to caress his cheek, comforting him and the beast inside him.

“I’m not afraid of you. I can protect myself with my magic if need be.”

His jaw flexed. “Armisha, why are you willing to risk it?”

“Because I want you.”

Oh girl, that’s cute. Yes, yes. Feed his ego.

I guided him back to the bed. He went willingly, like a man who knew better but couldn’t help himself. He sat on the edge, and I stood between his legs. My core contracted when his nails ran up my thighs, the warmth of his body making the hairs on my skin stand at attention.

“The other women,” he spoke low, “I never wanted to be with them in the way I do you. I can’t explain it.” He squeezed me. “They weren’t wolves or supernaturals so I couldn’t reveal myself to them. I just let Varek get what he needed and moved on.” He paused, resting his head against my stomach. “I don’t want to hurt you, but he keeps losing control.”

His honesty disarmed me for half a second. He was showing he cared, and it almost made me feel bad. But the potion knocked the sense he’d sucked out of me back into place, and I remembered that letting me in was exactly what I needed.

I pushed him on his back, my hands moving down his body until they reached the waistband of his pants.

“I trust you, Dorian.” The words came out softer than I meant. His eyes searched mine for a moment before he helped me remove his pants and boxer briefs, letting his dick finally break free.

I didn’t stop the gasp that escaped at the sight of him—long, veiny, thick. The girth alone made me squeeze my thighs together.

“You won’t let him hurt me.”

He didn’t answer me, so I straddled him and took matters into my own hand. Literally. My fingers circled his length as I lowered myself onto his tip. Holy hell.

“Right?” I pressed.

He groaned as my pussy drew in another two inches of him.

“You won’t let him hurt me?”

“Right, little witch.” His mouth twitched. “I won’t let him hurt you.” His hands roamed up my thighs.

“I believe you.” My head fell back as I sank further. “You’re not the big bad wolf.” I am. “But,” I leaned over, pressing my palms against his chest, “I want you to fuck me like you are.”

His wolf surfaced for a split second at my words, but Dorian quickly took back over.

“Only if you promise.” He gripped my hips, regulating my pace. “If it becomes too much, you have to stop me by any means necessary.”

I collapsed deeper and purred into his ear, “I promise.”
