Now we’re getting somewhere.

“Anything you can tell us about that?”

“The hell I’m an expert on overalls.”

She tosses her eyes.

“Go ask ChatGPT or something. Isn’t that what everyone does now?”

I wince at the mention of my competitor. But she does have a point.

“Then what happened?”

“He paid me twenty dollars, the tight bastard. I mean, the top alone cost me fifteen. He didn’t even offer me a ride back to the theater. I was pissed about that.”

She stops, as if something occurs to her, and I lean forward.

“The license plate. I remember it had the numbers 666. I figured that creep was the devil anyway, and it made me giggle. Asshole.”

I remove a bundle of dollars from my pocket and hand it to her. Her eyes light with greed and she leans forward and as she makes to take it, I grasp her wrist and fix her with a dark glare.

“You call Angel if you remember anything else. If you see him, hear from him or see the car.”

She nods, her confidence staggering as she licks her lips and purrs, “I’ll do you all for a hundred. Right here and now.”

I release her hand.

“We can offer you a ride back to the theater. That’s the only ride you’re getting.”

“I’m good.”

She stuffs the money down her bra. “I’m heading to the Pink Flamingo, anyway. It’s time for my appraisal.”

She winks and slides off the bed, and as she heads to the door, she scans the room and sighs.

“I’d do it for free if you’re interested. Man, this is seriously getting me off.”

Titan holds the door open wide and jerks his thumb outside and as she leaves, I dim my smile as my thoughts turn to the last man she was with in this location. Now we have something else to go on I will waste no time and do exactly as she suggested. Feed my machine and see what it spits out.

CHAPTER 29

SOPHIE

Bethan had to cancel our lunch earlier, which was a good thing, but her mom is watching the kids tonight, so we are catching up after work instead.

I meet her in our favorite coffee shop, and she calls out as I enter.

“Over here babe, I got your drink already.”

She found us a booth tucked away from curious eyes and as I slide in with my back to the store, she grins.

“So, tell me everything.”

I shrug. “Like what?”

“The fact you’re living with a freaking billionaire would be a good start.”

“How did you know?”
