“The card is for the food, and the dollar bill is for you, angel.”

I blink, wondering if he’s realized it’s a hundred and not a ten.

“Sir.” I lean down and say softly, “You gave me the wrong bill.”

“Did I?” He grins and I swear my heart melts.

He glances down at the note and shakes his head. “Damn. You’re right.”

He rolls his eyes to his friend opposite.

“I’m such an idiot.”

He reaches into his wallet and pulls out another hundred.

“I meant to give you two of these.”

“Sir.” I gasp, my cheeks on fire as I lean down. “I don’t know what you’re thinking, but I only serve coffee and food. Nothing else, so if you think this, um, tip, is going to make me owe you a favor, well, I’d rather you left me nothing.”

“Is that normal?” His gaze is intense, causing me to shift on my feet.

“Do men leave huge tips expecting something other than the service?”

“Sometimes.” I fix him with a fierce glare.

“But I tell them the same thing.”

I draw myself up to my full height, all five foot four of me.

“So, enjoy your day, sirs. It was a pleasure.”

His hand catches my wrist and as I turn, his smile is kind.

“I reward good service and you look like you could use a kind gesture. That’s all it is and I’m sorry if I have offended you. That wasn’t my intention.”

I blow out a breath and, for some reason, my eyes mist over.

“Then, thank you.” A small chuckle leaves me. “You can come again.”

His friend rolls his eyes this time.

“Come on, some of us have meetings to endure.”

His smile is also kind and as they make to leave, I’m surprised when casual guy turns and presses a white business card into my hand.

“I may know of a job for you. Call me if it gets unbearable here.” He winks and I swear my toes curl and as I watch them leave, something flutters inside my heart, but I push the fantasy away when Frank snatches the wallet from my hand and hisses, “Two hundred bucks. What did you promise him?”

“Nothing.”

I make to snatch the money back and his grip is tight as he pushes me away and frowns. “Get back to work. This will go in the pot for everyone to share.”

“That’s not how it works.”

I bite my lip again and he grins.

“New rule. Any tip over twenty percent is shared. Unless…”

He leans forward, his breath stale as he breathes, “Unless you ask me nicely in the back office when your shift ends. Come and find me, and I’ll see if you deserve the full amount.”

He grins, his eyes burning with lust as he turns, leaving me standing watching him go, helpless as always, knowing full well that two hundred bucks would never make me enter his office, jeez not even a million would make me stoop that low.

However, one thing remains in my hand and as my fingers curl around the white card, I wonder what the job is on offer and even more than that, I wonder if I will ever call to find out.
