Moon nodded. “Founded by wolves.”

“How long ago?” Tempest asked.

“Eighteen hundreds,” Moon said.

Chris moved closer. “Where is it?”

Moon turned the page and found nothing else. The next two pages had been torn out. “Damn it.”

Tempest swore. “Someone removed them.”

“Looks like it,” Moon said. Mayhem shifted off the table, and Moon looked at him. “What are you doing?”

“Coming over there,” he said.

“No,” she said. “You need to lie down.”

“Moonlight,” Mayhem said.

“Your veins are almost to your shoulder.” Everyone looked at him, and Mayhem glanced down.

“Snitch,” he grumbled.

Moon stared at him. “Did you just call me a snitch?”

“Maybe,” he said.

She marched toward him. “Sit.”

“I’ve been sitting,” he challenged.

“Then continue doing so,” she growled.

“I’m going numb.”

Moon froze, and all humor disappeared. “What?”

Mayhem looked at his left hand. “My fingers are going numb.”

Moon grabbed his wrist. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“It just started,” he said.

“You tell me when anything changes,” Moon insisted.

“Didn’t want to interrupt Christmas’s dream therapy,” he teased.

Chris muttered, “Idiot.”

Mayhem pointed at her. “Stay out of this.” Chris smiled.

Moon tested the sensation in his fingers. “Feel that?”

“Barely,” he admitted.

“This?” she asked, poking his thumb.

“No.” Her stomach twisted. The night root was spreading faster now.
