“Why? This is the most fun I’ve had since being poisoned,” Mayhem admitted.

Chris rolled her eyes. “Can we get back to the part where my subconscious apparently knows where the creepy wolf prison is?”

“Yes,” Tempest said. Her Prez stepped forward. “Do you recognize anything about the road?”

Chris shook her head. “Not consciously.”

“Did you notice any road signs?” Tempest asked.

“No,” Chris said.

“How about buildings?” she asked. “Or landmarks?”

“No,” Chris said again.

Chrome snorted. “That narrows it down.”

Chris gave him a look. “You’re not being helpful.”

Moon closed her eyes. The image from her own vision returned easily now—too easily. The snowy, winding road and Chris’s motorcycle. Chrome and the blood that covered Chris’s hands. The cabin and the cages. She opened her eyes. “There was a sign.”

Chris frowned. “What?”

“On the road.” Moon pressed her fingers to her temples. She could almost see it—a flash of green with white letters, partially covered with snow.

“What did it say?” Mayhem asked.

“I don’t know,” she admitted.

“Can you go back?” Mayhem asked.

Moon looked at him. “What?” she asked.

“To the vision,” he said. “Can you go back to it?”

“I don’t control them like that,” she insisted.

“You didn’t before.” She understood what he meant. Before tonight, she hadn’t tried. Moon looked toward Chris.

“What do you remember right before your dream ends?” she asked.

Chris frowned. “A turn.”

“Left or right?” Moon asked.

“Left,” Chris said.

“Was it a sharp left?” Moon questioned.

“Yes,” Chris said.

“Uphill or downhill?” Moon asked.

Chris closed her eyes, and Moon watched her. “Uphill,” Chris said.

“And then what did you see?” Moon asked.

“A bridge.”
