“I'm Dark Chaos’s VP,” she continued.

“I know,” he said.

“You don't outrank me,” she spat.

“Don't care.” Her wolf growled, and Chrome's answered. It wasn’t an aggressive growl. It sounded protective, and that pissed her off more.

“Whatever this is,” Chris said, “if I'm dreaming about it, I'm involved.”

“No,” Chrome said. “You aren’t.”

“You don't get to decide that.”

Chrome's eyes flashed. “I do if going there gets you killed.” Chris went still, and she could tell that Chrome realized he'd said too much. She saw it immediately in his eyes.

“What happens there?” she asked.

He stepped around her, and Chris grabbed his arm. Chrome froze when their skin touched and heat shot through her palm. Not mate heat. She'd seen what happened to Moon and Mayhem. This wasn't that—at least, she didn't think it was. This was awareness—sharp, hot, and dangerous. Chrome looked down at her hand, and Chris slowly released him.

“What happens there?” she asked again. His eyes lifted to hers, and for one second, she saw something behind the sarcasm—fear. It wasn’t for himself, but for her.

“People disappear there,” he warned.

Chris's stomach tightened. “How many?”

“I don't know,” he said.

“Wolves?” she asked.

“Yes,” he breathed.

“Silverfang wolves?” she asked. Chrome hesitated, and Chris understood. “How many?”

“Three.”

Howler swore. “You never told me.”

“I didn't know they were connected,” Chrome insisted.

“When did it happen?” Howler asked.

“Before I joined Silverfang.”

Chris frowned. “How long before?”

Chrome looked at her. “Years.”

The room went quiet, and Tempest stepped forward. “Start talking.”

Chrome looked toward the front windows. Snow had started falling outside. It was the first snow of December. Christmas music still played softly from the kitchen, and lights blinked around the clubhouse. Red had apparently finished decorating while they'd been arguing. Everything looked warm and festive.

Chris's wolf paced. Danger. Chrome finally looked at her. “The town is called Holly Ridge.”

Mayhem groaned. “Oh, come on.” Moon laughed despite herself, but Chrome didn't.

“Holly Ridge was built by wolves.”

“So?” Chris asked.
