A shake of her head, then she ran the tip of her tongue along the underside of my cock. I shuddered, thrusting faster.
“Fuck, Nova, I—”
She dug her fingers into the back of my thighs, moaning as I exploded into her mouth.
The satisfied gleam in her blue eyes nearly made me fall to my fucking knees.
She stroked me slowly, then I pulled her up and kissed her hard, tasting myself on her tongue.
“My turn,” I whispered, holding her face between my palms. “Let me make you come.”
Nova pressed her fingertips to my lips. “Today’s about you.”
I bit them softly. “Exactly. So come here, amor.”

Emerport greeted us with humid air and overcast skies. My thoughts were still in Costa Rica as I sat in a coffee shop downtown with Rowan two days later.
He was a few years my senior. Dressed in black jeans and a gray hoodie, he looked more like an ordinary guy you’d run into while grocery shopping on a Saturday afternoon than a covert investigator. Maybe that made him great for the job, his impressive credentials aside.
“So”—he dumped a second packet of sugar into his espresso—“what exactly are you looking for? The truth, leverage, a public scandal?”
“I need something I could use against him.” I tapped my fingers on the file of information I’d gathered on Nova’s ex. “So, leverage.”
“And you told me the job is time-sensitive.”
I sipped my drink—bitter, unlike Rowan’s. “He refuses to settle. My girlfriend is wasting money on lawyer’s fees. The sooner I have something on him, the better.”
“You seem sure I’ll find something,” Rowan said.
I was sure someone treating a woman like he treated Nova couldn’t be trusted. The odds of him being a decent human being were none, even before the unauthorized work on her property he was holding over her head.
“I’m positive you will.” I just had no clue what, and whether the info would be useful. But I couldn’t sit with my arms crossed, watching Nova suffer.
I nudged the file forward. “Everything I could find out about Preston Marshall is here.”
Rowan took it and flipped through the pages. “What you have in here is a good start. Saves me time. How would you like to be updated?”
“Just let me know when you have something, and we’ll schedule a meeting. Otherwise, email is fine.”
He downed his drink and wiped his mouth with a napkin. “All right, Alejandro. I hope to get back to you soon.”
Cautious hope stirred inside me. “Me too, Rowan.”
CHAPTER FORTY-ONE
Nova
February
“Turn your wrist a little bit,” I told Asher. “I want to zoom in on the watch.”
He sighed but obeyed, letting me take a few shots. We were at the Aeterno flagship store, doing a photo shoot. Nothing overly elaborate—just Asher trying on watches.
While I handled the photographs, Alejandro talked to Victor, the brand partnership manager. The racing season was about to start; we had less than a month to prepare the content.
“All done,” I said.
