That made my stomach flip.

"Then what is your type?"

His hand stilled at my waist, hazel eyes darkening, and the corner of his mouth tipped into a smirk.

"Persistent."

His gaze dragged over me, slow enough to make my skin burn.

"Mean."

His fingers flexed.

"Strong enough to bite back."

My pulse hammered.

His fingers kept moving, tracing my side, and learning the shape of my body like he had every right.

Sammy awkwardly cleared his throat from the floor.

"Uh... I feel like I should leave."

"Stay put," Graves growled.

He froze instantly.

"Yep. Staying put."

My eyes narrowed at Graves as he continued.

"And dumb enough to walk into a possessive alpha’s room half-dressed in another man’s shirt."

Heat flared low between my legs.

"You were screaming," I whispered.

"And you came running."

Behind us, Sammy muttered, "Yeah... I really should go."

"Stay," we both barked at the same time.

That shut him up.

"I thought you hated me," I whispered.

His expression tightened.

"I don’t," he said, dragging a hand down his jaw. "Trust me, Teacup, I tried."

"Tried what?"

His laugh was humorless.

“Tried to keep this clean. Keep the lines where they belonged. Tried not to look at you longer than I should or think about you when you pissed me off.” He paused. “Tried not to want this.”

I went very still beneath him.
