Would he give her any warning before he pushed himself inside her?
The tension between them was thick and nerve-racking. And, if she was being honest, a tiny bit thrilling. Maybe it was because of the power imbalance. But they were about to cross a line between student and teacher, and fear and curiosity of the unknown made her imagination spin out of control.
Her breathing came fast as a horrible thought occurred to her—what if the headmaster was only pretending to be gentle, just so he could revel in her shock when he took her savagely later? What if he would hurt her more than the others had?
What if he whips me?
Henrikk was famous for it. His loyal followers no doubt emulated him.
The thought that he was a sadist who was ready to hurt her made Susie scared. Because it made sense. Why else would he caress her cheek with the back of his hand, where a tear had slid down her cheek? What effect could her tears have on a monster other than to excite?
“You’re crying,” Arken said, cupping her face. His cock remained hard and poised at her entrance, but he made no move to penetrate her.
“I’m not crying,” she insisted, but she was unable to manage a smile as she looked up at him.
“Susanna…”
“I’m fine.”
Just get this over with. Please.
“I know you’re reluctant, but—”
“Just get on with it,” she snapped, sounding more irritable than she meant to.
Arken narrowed his eyes. “I want this to feel good for you, too.”
“I doubt it will,” she mumbled, the words slipping out before she could stop them. She gasped, but Arken didn’t seem upset at her confession.
His eyes were smouldering as he traced her face. “Perhaps…you will give me the opportunity to change your mind?”
Opportunity?
“I don’t know what you’re asking,” she replied honestly. “You’re not giving me a choice in this.”
There was a pause. A brief, pivotal moment where her words hung in the air, and she dared him to face up to what it was he was doing. That this was not consensual. That as soft as his touches were, she had only allowed him into her bed to save Molly from the same fate.
Was he man enough to admit that?
Arken’s head dropped, his swept-back hair falling forward to mask his eyes. He let out a long sigh. “You’re right. I’m not really giving you a choice.”
Susie’s breathing hitched. He’d just acknowledged that this was wrong.
Did that mean he’d changed his mind?
Would he leave her room?
Arken lifted his chin, his brown eyes dulling as his jaw set hard. “Tonight, for this night only, you are mine, Susanna. I need you.”
Any hope she’d had that he would leave her alone faded. Her throat grew tight. “Oh.”
“Perhaps you need this too?”
She gave a bitter laugh. “Right…”
Like a hole in the head.
“I can sense your emotions, especially in such close proximity,” Arken said, caressing her cheek. His face was lined with sympathy as he stared into her eyes. “You’re lonely.”
