I can tell the man has exhausted his word count for the day.
“He did take a bullet for me,” I add with enough levity to make everyone laugh.
Someone new enters the waiting room. A man in his late thirties with graying blonde hair and a concerned expression on his face. The fact he’s managed to get through security to be with us must mean he’s an intimate friend of Ravaged.
And that’s proven when everyone turns and light up when they see him.
“Lucas?” Caspian exclaims as he spots the man.
Ah. Lucas Mac. Ravaged’s manager.
“Caspian? I heard the news. I didn’t actually believe you’re back. Am I seeing a ghost?”
My big boyfriend bounds over to his friend and wraps his arms around him.
“I’m real.”
“Yep,” Lucas replies, close to suffocation thanks to Caspian’s giant biceps. “You’re certainly real. I guess you really are back, huh?”
“I missed you the most, Lucas.”
“Thanks, big guy.”
Caspian gestures towards me. “This is Elsa.”
Ravaged’s manager opens his jaw in amazement. “You found a girl, Caspian?”
“She’s a good one.”
“I hope so,” I say, blushing.
“You’re gorgeous,” Lucas says, shaking my head. “I’m Lucas.”
“I’ve read about you,” I reply. “You’re the one person able to keep the band together all these years.”
Lucas turns to Caspian. “I like her already,” he says.
Caspian beams.
“Well, you’ve got a girlfriend,” Lucas comments. “And I’ve got a boyfriend.”
“No way,” Caspian replies.
“Yeah. You know Gary? He was at Chloe and Bishop’s wedding? We’re officially an item.”
“Congrats,” Caspian says.
“Yeah, congrats,” I add.
And then the waiting room doors burst open, and in marches Axel with a crazy look in his eyes and a beaming smile on his face. He’s definitely got news.
We all turn to hear what he has to say.
“It’s a boy,” he announces, his voice totally unable to contain his joy and pride. “I’m a father.”
Bishop, Drake, and Caspian immediately get up to shake Axel’s hand. Then they all embrace. Us girls nod at each other and join in on the emotional hug.
“Can we see him?” Chloe asks.
