“Yep.”
“What is it?” Evie asks me.
I roll my eyes. “Work.”
“Right.”
I sheepishly flutter my eyelashes at Harry. “I really got to leave,” I say. “I can give you my number if you’d like.”
The man shakes his head.
“Tonight was going to be fun, Chastity. But that phone call has pretty much ruined it. Have fun with… work.”
Oh, he doesn’t believe me. He thinks I’m giving him the cold shoulder.
Triple shit.
And then he turns his back on me, calls Brad to follow him, and walks away.
Evie pats my shoulder in consolidation. “Ouch, that hurts. It felt like we were about to snag two good ones there.”
I sigh for the second-longest time in my life.
“This eight o’clock Saturday meeting better be fucking worth it,” I say before deciding to order another Tequila shot for the road.

NICHOLAS
I arrive at work, and it is dead empty. No one else is in the parking lot. Obviously, it would probably be because I’ve been called into work on a fucking Saturday morning just before Christmas and no one is as stupid as me to actually listen to their boss.
Well, there is one other person. I park the car and squint through the early morning December mist to see who is sitting in the vehicle opposite mine.
Oh, shit.
Chastity Wilde.
I chuckle to myself at the sight of her.
There she is. The girl I love to hate. She’s as stupid as me, it seems.
What the hell is she doing here?
I get out of my car and into the cold air. I rub my freezing hands together and head across the parking lot over towards Chastity’s car, wanting to figure out her deal. She doesn’t notice me until I tap on her window. She jumps in her seat in surprise. It’s flipping hilarious.
She glares at me before winding down the window so we can talk.
“Morning,” I say to her in my most cheery, annoying voice.
She looks like she’s going to kill me and then skin my carcass. I love that look.
Sweet revenge for calling me dickface for a year.
“What the hell are you doing?” she asks me. “You were so close to giving me a heart attack.”
“Just seeing that you’re awake behind the wheel.”
“Get lost, Nicholas.”
