Pretty soon he flips the script on me and it’s his turn to ask the questions. “What about you, Agostini? If you weren’t rich, how did you get through school?”

I laugh a little. “Oh, I worked a lot of odd jobs.”

“Yeah, washing dishes. What else?”

“I was a shopgirl on Rodeo Drive. Waitressed. Sold perfume in a department store.”

“Really?” He looks truly impressed.

“Yep. And frankly, the waitressing made me the most money.”

“I believe it,” he says. “But you’re doing well now though, right? I mean, your clothes scream money.”

“Ha! Hardly. I’m a PR rep at a top agency but I don’t own the agency. I’m just an associate publicist. Hence my latest role as a babysitter to the future stars.”

He studies me. “In a lot of credit card debt then?” There’s a smile lurking in his eyes. He’s teasing me.

It’s definitely the two martinis still talking but I lean forward and meet his gaze, folding my hands together in front of me. “If you promise you will never ever admit you know it, I’ll tell you the secret to how I make ends meet.”

He looks a little stricken. “Uh . . . do I want to know?”

“Maybe not.” I shrug.

“Okay, okay, I give.” He leans forward too. “How?”

I let a sly smile curl my lips. “I have a profile on OnlyFans.”

“What?” His eyes are wide. He cups a hand behind his ear. “Come again?”

“It’s just my feet,” I hasten to add. “My feet in expensive high heels.”

Honestly, I can’t believe I admitted it to him. What’s going on? Yesterday I wanted to slap him and today I’m spilling my biggest secret? But here we are.

He’s shaking his head and staring at the table, dazed. “I don’t even know what to say. Is that a thing?”

“Yeah.” I nod. “There are tons of guys with foot fetishes out there.”

Jesse’s eyes narrow on me. “Enough to pay rent? In Manhattan?”

“Oh, yeah.” I nod more. “And most of the time, they’re not even my shoes. I just go to the department store, try them on, click a few shots and upload them. Sometimes there’s video.”

“Hmm. Do you think there’s a market for men’s feet?” A smile brightens his face.

I laugh. “You never know!”

I expel my breath, relieved he didn’t judge me. That’s what I was expecting, frankly. And I’m not entirely sure why. It also feels strangely good to have shared that secret. El and Luca are the only other people who know about it. But Jesse knowing feels right, for some reason. Though I’d feel even better if I knew something equally embarrassing about him.

And there’s only one way to make that happen.

“Now tell me a secret about you,” I prod, giving him what is no doubt a leering smile.

He glances away a bit too quickly. “Already did. The army.”

“That’s not embarrassing.” I slap my palm on the table. “It’s admirable.”

He shrugs. “I got nothing else.”

I narrow my eyes on him. “Seriously? You don’t have one embarrassing thing you could tell me?”
