After discussing the situation with the woman a bit more, Sage and Mia decided that for the remainder of the day they would just try to have a good time with each other. It seemed a bit unrealistic but they had to try. Their lives had been filled with so much drama that they just wanted to forget it all for a while so they could just enjoy each other's company.

The time they had spent together recently had been very awkward and tense and until more information was brought to their attention they wanted to push it from their minds. Until everything made sense they didn't want it to bother them too much. It had already started to form a wedge between them and they were both unhappy about that. After all, they had both just gotten tattoos to signify how strong their bond was.

They both knew that it would only be a momentary space for them to have some time to themselves. Soon they would have to face the music and sort out the situation at hand. It didn't seem as though the situation was going to go away anytime soon though so it wouldn’t do them any harm to just put it on hold for a while.

"I think we've had enough Laura talk for the day. Let’s do something fun and relaxing," Sage said. He could do absolutely anything with Mia and enjoy their time together, it was one of the effects she had on him. It had been a while since they had spoken about anything but Laura and neither of them wanted their lives to revolve around her. They both deserved to be happy and because they made each other happy they could afford to ignore the world for a while.

"I completely agree, what would you like to do?" she asked.

“Well, I'm slightly hungry so why don't we make something to eat and then we can see what's on TV? I don't feel like going out right now," he replied. He much preferred to be wrapped up in a little bubble with just Mia. Just the smell of her perfume drove him crazy.

With a smile, Mia led the way to the kitchen and Sage followed close behind. The kitchen was spotless and Sage remembered how neither of them had really eaten much for the past couple of days. There had been so much going on and so many feelings involved that neither of them felt hungry enough to cook. Sage looked down at his body and he could tell he had lost a bit of weight over the last couple of days. He knew he needed to eat so he could keep his strength up, especially if he wanted to protect Mia.

"Is there anything you feel like having?" Mia asked. Sage watched as she looked in the fridge and all the cupboards noting what they had available.

“I’ll eat anything that’s placed before me,” he replied, which for Sage was true. He had never been a fussy eater. Sage also knew that whatever Mia cooked would be amazing. He had tasted her cooking so many times that he knew she had a way with cooking. No matter what she cooked it always came out tasting almost restaurant quality. Mia pulled out a packet of pasta, a jar of pasta sauce, some cheese and then all the pots she needed. Sage stayed still by the doorframe, watching Mia as she moved through the kitchen. He could watch her for hours, she moved so gracefully and effortlessly that it was almost captivating to watch. She moved as if she floated, it hardly looked like she touched the ground as she moved from this side of the kitchen to that side.

"Are you going to watch me all day?" she asked, catching him staring at her. She smiled at him, letting him know she was just teasing.

"I could honestly watch you all day, to be fair," he replied. He moved toward her to help, filling the biggest pot with hot water so it could be placed on the stove for the pasta.

"You're incredibly weird," she said with a small laugh.

Her laugh sent off all of his emotions, as if he was falling in love with her all over again. It was crazy for him to think that through all the drama she had stuck by his side. He truly loved her for all that she had already done for him and he knew he would spend the rest of his life making sure she knew just how much she meant to him.

It was easy for them to fall back into how they normally acted around each other, especially after the recent growth of their relationship. They were both pleased that the day had taken such a good turn. Neither of them wanted anything to do with Laura at that moment and that wasn't because neither of them cared about the situation but it was because there was nothing they could do about it.

Once Sage placed the pot on the stove, he reached for two wine glasses, pouring them a small glass of wine each.

"I know it's still early but I think we both deserve it and considering we're not going anywhere, there isn't any harm in a small glass while we have lunch is there?" he asked with a wink. They weren't going to get drunk so early in the day but having a drink could definitely help lighten the mood.

"I think we both do need it. It’s been a crazy few days," she replied, taking a sip of her wine.

"I think that when this is all over, we should go away for a while, get a break from all the drama. What do you think?" he asked. He wasn't sure if she would agree but the thought of them going away sounded good to him. They had both been through so much in such a short period of time that getting away from it all sounded like something they both needed. Mia stood quickly, not taking her eyes off of the pot which had started to boil. She carefully placed the pasta in the water, sprinkling salt and a bit of oil with it so it wouldn't stick together.

"Hmm, that does sound like a good idea. Hopefully, this mess can be sorted out soon. I can't imagine how hard it is on you," she replied. Turning to face him, her eyes filled with concern. Sage’s heart grew as he saw how much she cared for him. If it were a better moment, he would have told her right then that he loved her but he wanted that to be special, not in the midst of some crazy woman showing up and trying to ruin everything they had built.

All of a sudden, Sage heard yelling coming from outside their gate. It sounded like a woman and he had a feeling he knew who it was before having to even look. He peeked through the kitchen window and saw the woman. He hadn't decided which name he would call her considering he didn't know who she really was yet. He couldn't make out what she was yelling but she was definitely asking for attention. He didn't want to give it to her but there was no way around it. Mia stopped what she was doing, taking note of the noise coming from outside too.

"I guess our wishes for a quiet day together are ruined," she said. Sadness washed over Sage as he watched the light in her eyes slowly disappear. He hated what the woman had done and he couldn't stand to think that Laura could be doing it. It didn't seem like the kind of thing she would ever do to him. If she were alive, he thought, after all this time, she would've let him live in peace.

They made their way outside and watched in horror as the woman started yelling at them through the gate. Neither of them could believe she had shown up at their front door, and not just that but had shown up completely drunk again. It seemed to be a regular thing for her.

"I think we need to go out there and try to settle her before the neighbors complain," Mia whispered to Sage.

"Are you sure?" he asked.

"We don't really have a choice, do we? We'll go out together. That way neither of us is alone," she replied as she placed her hand in his. Sage smiled at her and pressed the button to open the gate. Laura stopped shouting almost immediately and didn't try to move toward them as they made their way to her.

"Sage, why are you still with her when I've come back for you?" she asked, her voice filled with sadness. Sage couldn't take it. He couldn't understand why she would act like that.

"You need to leave, you're not wanted here," Mia said, stepping forward so Laura could see that they were a unit.

"No! You should leave! You're not the one he wants, he wants me!" she yelled back, throwing herself at Sage. Mia couldn't believe what she was seeing. She watched as Laura leaned into Sage and tried to kiss him. Sage moved his head and quickly pushed her away.

"No, you can't do that," Sage said. His voice was strong and authoritative.

He could call the cops on her and get her removed but he didn't want to get them involved. They never got the cops involved in their business.
