“Hello?” she said.
“Hi, Fiona, its Mia.”
“Oh, Mia, I’ve been expecting your call. How was the trip down to Florida?” she asked.
“It was fine. I don’t think I’ll ever want to ride a bike again though,” she said with a chuckle.
“I’m sure it was hard on the body.”
“It was, very much so. But I just called to tell you that we have arrived and we’re currently here with Adam.”
“Perfect,” Fiona said, “what has he told you?”
“He’s told us that the Omens around here have stopped messing with the Screaming Demons in the area,” Mia said.
“That’s excellent news, but we have to stay on top of the game. We can’t risk anything just because we think they have backed off,” Fiona said.
“Yes, both Sage and I agree with that. I think it’s still possible to take over Florida completely Fiona.”
“Hmm I think you are right, what do you suggest we do?” Fiona asked.
“Well, I think we need to get rid of the Omens here, once and for all. Run them out of town. Messing with the Screaming Demons comes with a heavy debt,” Mia said. And she knew that for sure.
“I like that idea. We need to prove that no one and nothing can stand in our way.”
“Yes, and then we take over the bars, turn them into Screaming Demons bars instead so no trace of the Omens is left.”
“Excellent idea, Mia!” Fiona said. Mia could hear the excitement in her voice.
Once Mia was off the phone, Sage took her to the bar the Screaming Demons had called their own. Fiona had told him that they had to go there the minute they arrived so everyone could see who was in charge.
The bar looked similar to the bar back home, Sage thought. It was slightly smaller but nevertheless, it was a nice reminder of home.
“Let’s go show them who’s boss,” Mia said from the entrance. Sage had no idea what she meant but proceeded to follow her inside the bar.
“This is so cool,” she said. “It looks almost identical to the one back home,” she said with a huge grin plastered on her face.
Sage was surprised to see her so happy. She hadn’t been that happy since he had met her.
“I was thinking the same thing!” he said as he too walked into the bar and ordered them drinks. No one knew who they were yet. Besides Adam, no one knew what Sage and Mia looked like.
Mia was so happy to be standing and walking around. She was so happy they had finally made it to Florida, she could literally dance around naked.
Soon she was three drinks in. She was on a bit of a buzz but nothing over the top.
“Come on Sage, let’s dance,” she said as she grabbed his hand and dragged him to the dance floor.
“Do I even have a choice?” he asked with a laugh. He had also had a few drinks and found it pleasantly surprising. He had never been a big drinker but with Mia being that happy he couldn’t help but join in. They started dancing around the booths, and people were laughing and started joining them.
Mia stopped to grab a stool from the bar, which she then proceeded to climb so she could stand on it. Steadying herself, she announced her presence to everyone in the bar.
“Hello everyone!” she yelled. “Can I please get your attention?!”
Everyone stopped what they were doing and stared as she stood there claiming everyone’s eyes. Sage thought she looked like she was glowing while she stood up on the stool. Anyone would be stupid not to notice her, even on a normal day she demanded attention just by being her. She always walked with a bit of an attitude and if she wanted something she was always likely to get it. Sage knew that eventually she would claim him.
“Hello, lovely people of the bar,” she said with a little giggle.
Everyone cheered and hooted. She had clearly won the attention of the crowd. They loved her.
