Warren’s face is turned away and looking out his side of our suspended seats. He couldn’t be more accurate, though. The view of the man next to me is incredible. “You certainly get a great view.” My voice is thick, and when Warren turns back to me, I slide my palm along his cheek as the ride slows and stops us almost at the top.
“Dane…” He leans towards me, and I meet his lips with mine. Kissing Warren is the match to the fuse of want I’ve tried to keep extinguished. I’ve tried to ignore the longing for everything he can offer me, but I can’t any longer.
The basket swings as we move slowly down. “Warren…” I break away from his lips and smooth a thumb over his swollen lips. “Is this romantic enough for you? Everything you want?”
He locks his gaze with mine and licks his lips. The scent of Warren’s tangerine body wash fills the tight space of the ferris as I hold my breath hoping for his approval.
“You have broken all my previous notions about you. This has been a night I’ll never forget.”
The basket descends faster, and we’ve lost the view from the top since we were too busy kissing to notice. Not that I mind, but I remember to do one thing. Pulling out my phone, I press our cheeks together.
Warren grins into the camera, and I snap a photo before it’s our turn to exit. I pick up the rabbit and tuck it under my arm before offering my hand to Warren as he exits. Without skipping a beat, his strong fingers curl around my hand, and we’re connected, walking away.
“You ready to get out of here?” Warren asks.
“If you are.”
He nods and walks faster. The current between us crackles as we speed walk back to the trailer. The giant rabbit still tucked under my arm bounces its ears with every step.
Warren reaches into his pocket for the trailer keys as I crowd up against his back. Laying open mouth kisses on his neck, I smell his tangerine scent and lick along his neck. “You always smell so delicious.”
“If you keep doing that, I’ll never get the key in the door.” Yet he tilts his head to give me more access.
Snaking my hand around his front, I close my hand over his and guide the key to the hole. “We’re a great team, even unlocking doors.”
He pushes me back with an elbow and a smirk so he can open the door. “I would have gotten it myself if you weren’t all over me.”
“Sorry, not sorry.” I laugh as I toss the stuffed rabbit to the side and reach for him.
“Hey! Don’t throw him aside like that.” Warren’s laughter as he fights out of my arms and sits the damn rabbit up at the table is infectious. “Poor Peter.”
“You’re naming it Peter?” I laugh.
“It’s the best I could do.”
“You’re not great at original names, I noticed.” He peels off his T-shirt, and I sort of forget what we were talking about. “Fuck, you’re hot.”
“Even when I can’t name a stuffed animal?” Warren steps closer with a grin, and I reach for him again. This time, he doesn’t brush me away.
“Even then,” I whisper as I kiss him and let my fingers dance across his naked skin. He tugs at my shirt, and I put a little distance between us so he can pull it over my head. Like every time we’ve been together, Warren’s touch on my flesh is the only thing on this planet that lets me forget my troubles and live in the moment.
His hands push me back into the door as his fingers fight with my zipper. We’re all fumbling hands and frantic kisses as we race to get each other naked. Warren laughs when my foot gets stuck in my pant leg, and I almost send us tumbling to the floor. He laughs again when I steer him towards the bedroom and bounce us off the door frame.
A trail of clothes behind us, we now catch our breath on the bed. Warren has never looked happier. His eyes sparkle with a teasing humour, and he brushes his fingers through my hair.
“This is the best night I’ve had in a really long time, Dane. I had so much fun. I’m a grown man and wanted to preen that my boyfriend won me the biggest stuffed rabbit.”
“Boyfriend?” I murmur and lean closer to kiss him.
He glances between us at where his fingers trace a random pattern on my chest. “Um…maybe that’s not the right word, but I think you’re more than a partner to me, Dane. Maybe I’m being too optimistic, but we connect in more ways than in a rodeo ring.”
“No, you’re right about that. You’re under my skin, and some days you’re all I can think about.”
His hopeful gaze meets mine. “Really?”
With a sigh, I flop backwards and let Warren blanket himself over me. “Yes, really. Don’t let it go to your head.”
“Why not? Think I’ll get too confident and beat you in tie-down if it does?”
