Enzo tossed an arm over his eyes, yawning. “I loved it. Your ass was great. But…”
“There’s a but?” I propped myself on my forearms, giving him a warning look.
He chuckled. “I like being handled more. And I don’t need to touch my cock to climax when you’re inside me. Might still fuck you every now and again for the variety of it, but…for the most part, I like being on the receiving end.”
That was good news both for me and my ass. Enzo’s cock wasn’t built for the top life.
“Guess you were right.” He stared down at me. “I’m a bottom after all.”
“I’m always right.” I swept the tendril of onyx hair from his forehead back up, knowing it was a losing battle, that in a few minutes or so, it’d flop back down and make my heart miss a beat. “Can you promise me something?”
He grinned at me. “Anything.”
Oh, how I wish.
“Please remember that next time I give you advice, Butterfly.”
“Hmm. Ominous.” He rubbed his nose against my shoulder. I pulled away, staring into his eyes seriously.
“Promise me, Enzo.”
“I promise.”
“And always carry your get-out-of-jail-free card.”
“Even to the bathroom?” He grinned.
“I’m serious, baby.”
He melted at the word baby, rolling his eyes with a soft smile. “You’re making me nervous. Yeah, Tom. I get it. I’ll listen when you give me advice.”
“Promise.”
“I promise!”
I leaned forward and captured his lips, drinking in his promise, and praying to a God I didn’t believe in that he wouldn’t break his word to me.
Chapter Thirty-Seven
Tom
For the next couple weeks, I lived in two parallel universes.
I knew they would eventually collide. In fact, the best outcome of such an explosion would be if I orchestrated the inevitable. A controlled detonation of my own making.
Still, I couldn’t stop myself from seeing the Camorra’s enforcer every night, even if I spent my days sitting for hours with the informant that was going to hand him over to me eventually.
Enzo straddled the same line. Planning his wedding to Katya during the day, and slipping into my bed every night. While my life unfurled into a heaping mess, the world kept spinning. More specifically, my caseload was a mile long, and there were criminals aplenty, demanding my attention and terrorizing the streets of New York.
I was busy wrapping up a murder case concerning a foreign diplomat when a rap sounded on the door. I glanced up to find Sully, a shit-eating grin on his face.
I’d tried my best to keep things professional with Sully since his altercation with Enzo, but it was challenging, considering my usual self wasn’t too agreeable to begin with. So the fuck-with-my-boyfriend self? As you could imagine, not exactly a peach.
Sully, too, wasn’t thrilled by my complaint. He hadn’t directly addressed it with me, but I knew he was pissed I ratted him out.
“Rothwell.”
“Sully.”
