The nurse and sonographer were both holding their laughter.

“It doesn’t matter now. You got the ring now.”

“The baby ain’t gave me no signs.”

“Just in there big kickin’ it. They knew mama and daddy was goin’ to give them their forever home together.” He kissed me. “OG knew what he was doing when you came to the fight that night.”

Somehow, we were in chaos, but there was already beauty forming in the storm. This baby was meant to be here. Rayzor was meant to be in my life.

“You know that means we gotta live together, right?” he said.

“We do.”

“Hell yeah, we do. You think I’m about to let my future wife and my unborn live apart from me? I let you have your independence, but you can call on daddy from here on out.”

“I’ve been calling on you.”

“From inside our own shit, though. That’s different.”

“Courtland.”

“Don’t call my name like that unless I’m in that pussy. This ain’t a debate, Mrs. Kirkland. You almost fuckin’ fainted working out with me. Ain’t no telling what else your ass been doing by yourself. You can keep your crib. I won’t take that away from you, but you and my kids are coming home with me.” With that, he leaned down and put the most passionate kiss upon my lips; it made my heart flutter.

“Well,” the nurse said, interrupting us. “Someone’s happy.” She pointed to the monitor.

I pushed him away. “And you can see why.” I smiled.

“Ain’t nothing wrong with that.” She laughed.

Rayzor and I stared lovingly into each other’s eyes as the sonographer finished cleaning off my stomach. Our lives were about to change for the better, and I couldn’t be more excited, even though I was a bit scared. We were taking leaps that I didn’t even see, but I was ready for the ride.

“Istill can’t believe you’re getting married and having a baby, friend. This is your year,” I told Eris as we walked the mall with security behind us.

She held up her hand with that massive ass rock, and I had to pull my Dior’s down because that bitch gets brighter every day. Rhea sipped on her slushie, barely saying anything.

“Rhea, you’re quiet. What’s up?” I asked her.

“Girl, nothing, just tired. That’s all.”

“You could’ve stayed home. You know we wouldn’t have minded,” Eris told her.

“I miss my girls. Besides, since I wasn’t there for the proposal or the announcement of the pregnancy, I had to come see for myself.”

She said it like she didn’t believe it.

“We told you to come to Rayzor’s the other day, but you didn’t. And you missed the FaceTime call for you to see it, so that’s on you,” I retorted.

“It’s cool. We can’t be everywhere at once. I was busy anyway.”

Eris saw the look I gave and nudged me.

“It’s fine though. We’re here now.”

“Right.” I upwardly rolled my eyes.

“Anyways. You have any plans for the wedding?”

“Girl, we’ve been talking about it. I don’t want nothing too big.”
