“I’ll be there Wednesday night.” I lean into his cheek, while his lips trail down my neck.

He presses them against the base of it, leaving me breathless. “Thank you.”

“Rush…” I dip my chin, capturing his mouth again. His lips are firm and supple at once, driving me wild with want.

He breaks away, sighing with regret as he eases me down to the floor. “I think this might be the hardest thing I’ve had to do.”

“What’s that, apologize?” I peer up at him, knowing I’m falling in love with Rush Hatcher. And then he finishes me.

“Leaving you,” he kisses me again. “I don’t ever want to be away from you. You make me better- whole.”

My head swims, heady, and intoxicated by all that is Rush. “And all I want is to be the best thing for you.”

“There’s nothing better than you, Spencer.” His lips press against mine once more, and then he steps away.

“Stay.” I clasp onto his hand.

He points to the phone. “You have a call coming, and I have a car to fix.”

“What if I pout?” I pucker my mouth and bat my lashes at him.

“Damn, I hope you’re this insatiable in bed.” He flashes me a wicked grin, and my mouth pops open.

I crook my finger at him. “Stay, and you can find out later.”

“Damn,” he clutches his heart. “those poor men.”

“What men?” I cock my brow.

He steals another kiss before turning for the door. He pauses, looking over his shoulder. “The ones who never saw you coming for them.”

“I suppose it’s a good thing you were watching out.” I bite my lip, releasing it slowly.

“I’ve waited for someone like you for years. I would’ve missed you every day until I found you, Spencer.” He smiles, and it shines in his eyes.

I follow him to the door, watching him until he gets on the elevator. Just as the doors begin to close, Rush stops them.

“Hey, Spencer.” He grins.

“Yeah, Rush?”

“I forgot to ask, what’s your middle name?”

“Avery,” I giggle. “why?”

“I didn’t want to wait until we said our vows to find out.” He winks, releasing the doors. The room fills with ‘oh’s’ and ‘ah’s’ as the elevator closes, and he’s gone.

Taking my heart with him.

Yes, I’m falling head over heels for the playboy driver. That’s what I get for saying never. The rest of the day goes by quickly, and I hurry home to make my travel plans.

An article pops up in the corner, and even when my gut tells me not to, I click on it. It’s Rush dripping with women in photo after photo. I do my level best to remember that it’s more smoke than mirrors.

“Oh, Rush. What have we gotten ourselves into?” I chew on my nail, scanning through the internet for the rest of the night. I figured I needed to see everything before I’m blindsided by anything else.

True to fashion, Rush is flanked by every type of woman there is on earth. But on a closer look, I notice his hands aren’t clutching onto them. He stands just, so his body doesn’t press against anyone either.

“Once again, you surprise me.” My cell vibrates next to me and makes me smile when I see who it is.
