“Oh, hell no he didn’t. He was as shocked as I was when he walked into the room.” I finish off the glass.

Millie tops it off again. “Did they not mention his name when they gave you the interview?”

“Just the last name. The same one I refused to get because I wanted to remain anonymous. I mean, if that doesn’t scream prostitute, I don’t know what does.”

She calmly walks over to the kitchen and grabs a glass, pouring her a drink as she comes back to refill mine. “I don’t want you to worry, try to stay calm but this is fucked up!”

“Yeah,” I nod. “I know.”

She sits down on the coffee table. “How did he act?”

“He hates me. Probably thinks I set him up.” I fall over unto the couch and scream into the cushions. My stomach lurches and I fight back the bile.

Millie pats my leg. “But he hired you, so he must be okay with everything.”

I sit straight up, holding my glass out. She raises her brows and fills the glass. “His twin brother hired me because he was shooting daggers at my face.”

Her jaw goes slack. “Damn, he has a twin?”

“Yeah, looks exactly like him.”

She cocks her head to the side. “Remind me why I’m a lesbian or am I bi?”

“Seriously?” I slap at her.

She fights to keep from smiling. “Is his brother single?”

“He had a ring on, so I think he’s married.”

“It didn’t stop Carter.” She half shrugs.

My mouth opens but closes just as quickly. “Too soon.”

“But oh, so true.” She swirls her glass.

“Agreed.” I bite my lip. “Lennox was so much better than Carter.”

“I’d do him.” She waggles her brow as I glare at her. “Dude, he was so hot, you really can’t blame me.”

“He isn’t only hot, he’s also rich, arrogant, and so good in bed.” A delicious tweak forms in my lower belly. “So good.”

She nods slowly. “What if he wants seconds?”

“Don’t say that.” I snub. “Kill me now.”

She moves over to sit beside me. “Stop it. Your life isn’t over.”

“Yes, it is.” I nod. “He’s so angry.”

She sighs heavily, settling in. “Look at it this way,”—I turn to her, knowing she’s going to fix this for me—“the office sex is going to be off the hook!”

“Ahhh!” I fall over again, kicking and screaming.

Millie rubs my back until I calm down or the alcohol kicks in. “I truly think you’re overreacting to this entire situation.”

“Maybe you’re right,” I sit up, reaching for my glass. “Or maybe it’s the alcohol.”

She takes the glass from me. “Don’t you have work to do?”
