“He’s trying to get your attention.”

I tap my pencil off the desk, focused on the papers in front of me. “No, he’s not.”

“Oh-kay.”

“That’s our time, ladies and gentlemen. Please go over your syllabus and be ready to roll on Wednesday,” the professor says as we stand to make our exit.

“By the way, I’m Amelia, but everyone calls me Millie.” She offers her hand with a smile. She’s beautiful with long blonde hair and big brown eyes.

“Lolita, my friends call me Lola.”

“Lolita.” She waggles her brows. “I like it.”

“Thank you.” I laugh. “You’ll love the way my mom says it.”

“Can you Salsa?” She tugs on my arm as we walk out the door.

“I can.”

Her mouth drops. “You’re so gonna teach me.”

“I can do that, if you have any skills.”

“Skills? I got skills.” She twirls out in front of me and shakes her booty.

“Get it, girl.” I clap as my eyes stray from her to Carter, standing in the distance with the girl from class.

She clasps his arm, leaning in to whisper in his ear. Her hand slides up his bicep when he bends over her. He’s tall, broad, and extremely handsome. Carter’s everything I’m not.

“Go talk to him.”

“Not on your life!” I bump my shoulder into hers. “Do you have time to grab some food?”

She locks her arm with mine. “Let’s plow.”

“Umm, don’t say ‘let’s plow’.”

“Sound bad?”

“Wrong, it’s just wrong.”

“Hey, Lola!” a deep voice calls from behind us.

Millie’s brows shoot up. “Can I say plow now?”

“No! Never!” I say through a wide smile as Carter joins us. “Hey, what’s up?”

“Do you have a class?” He looks from me to Millie.

“No, we need sustenance.” She grabs her belly, frowning.

I melt as Carter bites his lip. “Want to come?”

“I do.” He smiles wide as we turn to the cafeteria. “So, you’re a freshman?”

“I am.”

“Me too.” Millie grins.
