“Not happening, Romeo,” Lachlan grunts.

“Don’t make me do it.” My mouth drops. “I’m not joking. I’m going to give you a raspberry unless you say something.” I frown.

“Are you going to blow yourself?”

Lennox rolls his eyes and begins to pull up my shirt. I shake my head, fighting with him. He scoots down my legs, placing his mouth over my body.

“Last chance.” I smile, shrugging. I watch as he bends down, placing his mouth on my belly and proceeds to blow, making the most God-awful racket known to man and causing me to laugh as loud as I can.

“Stop! STOP! You’re tickling me! Ahhhhh!” I scream as Lachlan and Maisyn laugh. Lennox pulls away, leaning down to kiss me.

I push him over, crawling on top of him. “I’ll pay you back, but not like this; you’d enjoy it too much.” I bite at his finger when he tries to touch me.

“Hello, Lola,” Maisyn and Lachlan chime in.

I poke at Lennox’s side. “You three play dirty. I’ll remember it.”

“Oh, you haven’t seen anything yet. Wait until they decide to wear the same clothes and make you pick who’s who,” Maisyn bemoans.

“That’s some fun times right there.” Lennox snickers.

“Sounds to me like Maisyn and I need a game plan.” I lace my fingers with Lennox’s.

Lachlan clears his voice. “Lenny, you might want to get ahold of your woman there.”

“Get ahold of me, what?”

Lennox laughs. “I’m not sure how, use Maisyn to teach me.”

“The hell you say, she’ll kick my ass,” Lachlan says as we giggle.

Lennox pulls me down, kissing me again. “Be careful, she might tase you.”

“I save that for special punishments.” Maisyn snickers. “Come to think of it, Lola, you may need it.”

“Screw you both.” Lennox narrows his eyes.

“So is this official?” Lachlan asks.

I bite my lip, staring at Lennox. “Not yet, I haven’t asked her.”

A pang guts me as I realize we’re not a couple. “I’ll have him take the trash out as he leaves. Maybe one of my neighbors will take him in.”

“Sure they will, let us know how that works out.” He laughs as Lennox looks at me, and for a fleeting moment, I think he’s upset. “You two should come over sometime.”

“Sounds like a plan, we’ll hit you up,” Lennox says.

“Alright, later, guys.” Lachlan ends the call.

Lennox shifts, rolling me away from him. I can tell something’s not right, but I’m not sure what. He sits up, standing as he pulls his pants on.

“Lennox, you okay?”

He turns his head toward me, smiling but it doesn’t reach his eyes. “I am. Let’s get some food.”

“I’m right behind you.” He reaches for my hand, and I take it and giggle. “Even better, I’m right beside you.”

We work together on a late lunch, saving dinner for a local delivery of Chinese and old movies. I beg him to stay another night, and he agrees; although it feels like he’s reluctant.

By the second movie, he’s back to himself, and we’re having another incredible time together. I’m not sure what I said or did, honestly, I’m not even sure it was me, but when he looks at me, I have no doubt how he feels.

It’s time I start showing him what he means to me.
