She’s still in the shower as I open her closet doors. Standing back, I scan for sweats, finally finding them hanging in the corner. “Who hangs their sweats? Freak!” I jerk a pair off the rack, turning to her dresser.

“Panties … top drawer.” I open it, peeking in to what is known in my world as heaven. These things have touched her holy grail. I pick up a thong and grin. “No, not good right now.”

I place them back in, taking a purple pair with white polka dots. “These are cute.” I wiggle my brows. Yes, I’m a man. One crazy, mad over this woman, and I refuse to have control going through her underwear.

I come across a bra, pausing. “Nope! Not happening, dude.” I shove it back in the corner. “She never said where to look for a shirt.” I whirl around, on the hunt for a shirt. Something catches my eye on her bed.

My eyes dart to the bathroom. She’s still in there, so I wander over, lifting the sheet to see what’s hanging out. A smile spreads across my face when I find what I thought I would when I spotted it.

“My shirt, in her bed.” My heart skips a beat. “At least I’m here.”

“What’s that? Did you find everything?” she shouts from the other room.

“I’m coming.” I push the door open, laying her things on the sink. “Where can I find a shirt?”

“Oh, third drawer down.”

I hurry over, taking one out, and running it back. “Here you go, I’m going to whip up some food.”

“You’re cooking?” She pops her head out. “Now?”

I nod slowly. “Yes, you’ve had pain meds, and you need to eat or you could get nauseated.”

“I’ll come help.” She’s panic-stricken.

“I can handle this, so take your time.” I walk to the kitchen in search of food.

Opening the refrigerator, I find everything I need for an omelet. I find a pan and start the stove as I chop up some vegetables and add cheese. I’m busy whisking eggs when I feel someone standing behind me.

I look over my shoulder and have to turn around. Lola’s hair is damp, laying in waves over her shoulders. Her over-sized tee and sweats look incredible on her. Her eyes dart to the stove, avoiding my gaze.

“Would you like some help?”

“Go relax. I have this under control.” She hesitates. “What, don’t you trust?”

Her mouth closes and opens again. “It’s just that … I’ve never had this, anything like this.”

“Tell you what, come get our plates and something to drink.”

Her face lights up as she walks past me, placing her hand on my back to take the glasses down. “Some of the hard stuff?”

“Why not, I’m not driving.” I bite my lip when her eyes flicker to mine, shining.

I plate our food and help her to the couch with her drink. Before getting mine, I toss the clothes in the dryer. She watches me through her lashes, hoping I won’t notice. If she only knew my stalker tendencies for her, she wouldn’t worry about her own.

“This is delicious, thank you,” she says as I sit beside her.

“You’re welcome.”

She peers out the window. “The sun will be coming up soon.”

“Should I get ready?”

Her brows knit. “For what?”

“To take the trash out?” My lips twitch to her delight.

“You’re killing me, dude.” She slaps my leg. “Stay?” She worries her lip. “Stay with me, please.”
